Puck, build those listening posts quick. You did have me worried that one game where you took the crit I was worried I wouldn't be able to take it back.

Also, fuck eldritch storm. Gay shit is gay. Fucking 90% of my T2 turret gone. Fucking Eldar treachery knows no bounds.

What. Only 90%? It takes out two IG turrets completely.

Also that was awesome that I was on cakemikz's team because I can't stand those goddamn free sluggas.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Necron turrets are mad faggotry.

More hitpoints, more damage, oh and hey just for the hell of it, we'll make their anti-vehical upgrade good at killing everything instead of just vehicals.

Thank god for heavy weapons teams.

What's everyone's opinion on Tau Harbinger drones? Imba?

Goomba need not apply, I already know his opinion.

    Annoying but not imba.
They come in waves, and that harbinger producer takes up like 4 vehical cap from memory.

Also, this is me posting at 3:30 in the fucking morning cause im working on an essay I should have been working on while I was playing DOW with you homos.

I dont know anything about Harbinger drones. I am thinking of learning to play Tau though. when I quit playing before Dark Crusade had just come out recently and while I played Necrons for a little bit I never even gave Tau a chance.

If I do pick up Tau though, expect me to start playing random.

I only ask because Goomba and I had a 1v1 yesterday, he went Eldar, I went random, got Tau (to both of our regrets) and what followed was a pretty good early game with lots of micro and fucking rangers. Comes into mid-game with neither myself nor Goomba having any obvious advantage, and we both decide to make our moves. I attack one of his outermost lps and he does the same to me, but he attacks indirectly with invis rangers whilst I do my usual thing of throwing everything into the fight.

Anyway, he takes my point, I take his, and I move on his base, his army conspicuous in it's absence (but likely only a webway gate away). Initial advantage to me as I catch him mass producing Wraithlords with their pants down and destroy them with Stealth Suits, then (as I have an abundance of power), from my single Harbinger, I right click overwatch on drones and rally point them into the heart of Goomba's base. (Whilst the rest of my army is still in there blowing stuff up, mind, I didn't retreat my army and send drones in alone)

Without engaging me with his full infantry army, he gets pissed off and leaves, angry about harbinger imba. Tho up to that point, the first time I used drones, they were doing a lot less damage than what the rest of my army was.

I don't really know Tau, so I didn't know if I had committed a treasonous act by making a Harbinger. *shrug*

    Goomba never 1v1's me. Ever.
    DOA wrote:

Yeah he does that a lot. A lot. Its happened like three times in team games I've played against him.

Fire dragons would quite literally poop on drones chests though, dunno why he left. Drones are a far bigger problem for a lot of other races, which lack rapid fire anti-tank weaponry.

To be fair, he very rarely 1v1s me, but he wanted to play yesterday and I was the only one online at the time and was leaving soon to hit the sack...so yeah. It was a good game, for the most part, until the anti-climatic ending of course.

I am in no way exaggerating when I say this: I have seen lost games be won just because the tau had the good sense to make two harbringers and just right click the drones and put the waypoint at a battle. They decimate everything. Everything.

And cakemikz, Orkz don't have any stupid piece of shit units/strategies, so I guess you're out of luck. Beating your sluggas rush is easy if I just cloak my base and make wraithlords somewhere where they can get to you. Maxing your cap on shit units has it's disadvantages.

Gitz are pretty bad but not as bad as 20 0/30 units that do enough that your units die before they do, unless they're vehicles, then you just have to wait a wave or two, or, shit, maybe get AV. Not that you'd need to because drones do it just fine, despite them not being AV units.

First, as I understand it, the tooltip is incorrect, drones cost 35 power each, not 30. Second, I only had one of them, not two, and the Harbinger was in the thick of things, ramming itself into a cliff inexplicably due to pathing issues as I recall.

Third, you had two Warp Spider squads, research haywire grenades, warp in, throw, Harbinger blows up immediately, warp out.

Oh never mind then 35 power well then I take it all back excuse me good sir I am so embarrassed. And if you only have one then I guess it's more like 15 instead and you don't have to worry about maxing them out so you don't have to worry about babysitting them.

Oh gee okay let me just warp my best units in the middle of your army for the sole purpose of killing one unit. I don't see any flaws with that do you class?

Aw, poor baby has to micro his warp spiders to do a job they were designed for? And I knew you'd focus on the minor correction rather than face the facts, that's so like you.

And ACTUALLY, while we're being incredibly anal over every little thing, it's 14 drones, not 15.

Plus your Warp Spiders would be in the line of fire for less than 2 seconds if you pulled it off right. If you didn't have enough units to stand up to my army after the destruction of the Harbinger well then I guess you were just outplayed on this occasion. Better luck next time eh?

It is even easier to beat if you just attack during the first 10 minutes of the game when I only have two squads of sluggas, and probably not even a Big Mek.

But using free sluggas is more just messing around.

Micro is too much work I have to press buttons and move my mouse and I didn't know warp spiders were meant to run suicide missions and I've been using them wrong this entire time oh god I guess I'm just not good at this DoW thing. :(

Well, I meant around 15, but okay. It could be 10 and I would still hate them, so let's be generous and say that I'm killing them with my magic invincible fire dragons or your fire warriors are off staring at space or something and I kill four of them.

Plus, do you know how long two seconds is? One second is enough to lose half a squad of them, assuming I ran all three and blew my figurative load on the one weak unit and the fire was spread out. I guess if I can't afford to delete my units I should just give up.

Edit: Actually, you know, I'm pretty sure that I would have to walk my warp spiders in range of your army to get within range to warp in to use the grenades. Warp Spiders aren't especially fast, you know.

You know honestly I've never really seen tau use harbingers in co-ordination with their army properly. Its always been independent of their army. Dunno why.

I can imagine it would be frustrating with those drones scouting for firewarriors. I'll have to 1v1 you doa to be sure.

And, the fool I was, dared to use a unit that Goomba didn't like, or want me to use.

I don't like firewarriors, khorne berserkers, grey knights, cultists, predators (either one!), hammerheads, skyrays, stealthsuits, sniper scouts, kroothounds, krootoxen, flayed ones, flash gitz, wartrukks, the missle laucnher Ork thing, and probably some other units. That doesn't mean I think they're unbalanced, it means that they're annoying to deal with. I'm sorry you can't tell the difference.

And who the hell is DodgePlan? Last time we seriously played drone spam was pretty much a taboo because they are motherfucking outrageous to deal with. And army of mostly pure req with little power, maybe (See DoA I said maybe so you should go look it up so you can post the exact numbers while calling me anal) 75 total power for every 300 req, not including teching, mixed with a unit that costs 30 power that takes out vehicles that take longer and cost more to build.

Then again, you guys think that the increased speed and invincibility that comes with transports is just a bonus of not having a setup time sometimes if you put our units in right. Or that units that are supposedly throw away outdamage the best of the Eldar units, or that there's anything wrong with HWT, so I'm just wasting my time here.
