I'm really bad at naming animals (my first cat was white, so I named her Sugar. Yeah. I was 3, though, so that gives me some leeway), but can I ask if you know what breed your cat is? He's so pretty!
I like Alfred, or Alfie, depending on mood! Or Norman. I like Norman.

our vet student friend thinks he might be a flame-pointed himalayan with a ragdoll. its tough to say. his brother is mostly black shorthair with white patches. he looks more ragdoll to me
Churchill. For the sake of being named after the cat in Pet Semetary by Steve-O King.
And you call him Church for short. <333
PSEDIT- As far as bad cat names go- My first cat was black and white and patterned like Felix the Cat. so...Felix. My next two cats were twin sisters. It was the nineties. Tia and Tamara came about. I look back on their cute little faces in shame.

Uh, flame-point cats have orange points You wee kitten has what are known (in NZ) as blue points. Breed-wise? He does appear to lean have leanings in the Ragdoll / Birman directions. Really though, all that matters is that he's loved
Have you thought about the name 'Burt'? Althought 'Chestor' and 'Cecil' are also very cool. Have fun with your new Kitten / Overlord!
And more pics please, he's a cutie!

i think we are leaning now towards either Sigmound or Winston
he is really coming out of his shell. its only been 2 days now and its amazing.
question for experienced cat people. he is very mouthy/bitey. not like biting but more mouthing..except its fingers arms and wrists. with my dog we trained her out of that, but dont know if i can do it with him, or is it something he will grow out of?
You mean, it's not biting you but it's kind of nibbling? It's playing with you. If you don't like it then put your finger down there when he's nibbling on it (not too far or anything, just a little bit).
Cats are not always "trainable" but they can usually take a hint.

yes the word is nibbling.
he is a nibbling fiend at this point. but he is getting the hint a bit. though it sucks a bit when he nibbles my beard.
think we are leaning towards Sigmound at this point for a name
Kittens typically grow out of nibbling as they grow older...unless you encourage the nibbling by constantly offering your finger and going "Oh its so cute when he bites!" Then you'll end up with a grown cat who likes to chomp on your head in the middle of the night.
Regardless, cats/kittens bite to play sometimes...if they're really trying to hurt you, it will be PAINFULLY obvious (pun intended!).
As far as being mouthy - I have quite a few kitten to cat upbringings under my belt, with cats I've found it's a lot like dogs. Make sure they do it on your say. If the cat comes up to you and just pounces right on your hands/feet or any of you and just nibbles and bites pick him up, turn him so his back/butt is to you and ignore him for a bit, if you're actively playing with him and he gets a little nibbly that's different. I tend to let them do that because you're the one who engaged in play and that's just how cats play sometimes. Same has always worked for claws or trying to get at your food and/or knocking over cups. Sometimes kittens can be a little hard headed because they're far from dumb and think they can get around things - just be firm and make sure that everybody in the house is enforcing the same rules on him.

He does kinda look like a Nigel, though.
I've always wanted to name a pet after the little guy from Gremlins.
Electronic composer for hire.
My old cat was called Gizmo
He would eat everything in sight.
My current cats are called Ginny and Bella (Weasley and LeStrange) thanks to my gf being a HP nut.
Anywho...Chester would be my vote. Or Reginald.
AIM: Yarrfooey
your girlfriend sounds like a fantastic woman, Id hang on to her
I named my cat KeeKee (or Kiki) just because I suck at cat names. But he seems to enjoy it.
My puppy's name at the rescue shelter was Winston, but he's far too much a jock to be a Winston, so he was renamed PJ.

Leftenant Nigel Bartholomew Pennyworth - Nigel for short.
Pet's always need ridiculous full names with shorter nicknames.
I ask because that's what I named my cat.
Because he likes to bite the heads off small animals (rodents, birds).

Agreed completely.
Another vote for Winston.
My cat's name is Kiki too! We should be cat buddies.
