    Oh my god, guys.

    Uncharted.

    Oh my god.

It's like the new Tomb Raider, which I utterly adored, but with Gears/Mass Effect/R6: Vegas gunfights.

When I grabbed it I also got a remote (fuck you Sony for invalidating my Harmony remote) and 2 Blu Ray movies (300 and 3:10 to Yuma). The Heavenly Sword and Ratchet Demos are downloading (still really slowly) right now.

And to the mention of AC and Orange Box I already have both on 360 though excellent suggestions to anyone here who does not yet have them. Basically think of every good 360 game out there and I have or have had it.

The replacement system runs like a fucking dream if anyone cares. I'm finally done buying hardware this generation and it feels wonderful. Like I'm being orgasmically raped through the intertubes.

My PSN name is Dr_Keenbean if anyone wants to get all up ins on some Warhawk next week or so. I'm definitely getting the boxed version because I want that bluetooth headset.

I love reading the first post from someone after they play that game for the first time. It really is a mindblowing experience.

Uncharted is just the beginning man :) Ratchet and Clank blew my mind in a similar fashion when I first played it and platformers have been dead to me for years.

And I will definately play you in some warhawk. Click the link in my sig to join the PA clan when you pick it up.

I also enjoy reading replies of first timers with Uncharted. Its such a damn good game.
When I grabbed it I also got a remote (fuck you Sony for invalidating my Harmony remote)

Did you get the official Sony remote or the Nyko? If you bought the Nyko remote you can make it work with your Harmony remote.

I hate to stroll in here and knock Uncharted, but I just gotta.
It has great graphics, beautiful animations (he really moves like he should), killer story, stunning locations, breath taking level designs, yada yada yada. I really loved it 45 minutes in. Then, the shooting just got to me. Way too much shooting. I get to do some awesome platforming for like 6 minutes. Then two gun sequences for about 12 minutes. REPEAT. AND REPEAT. AND REPEAT!!!

Now let's talk about shooting. I put a flipping clip into a guy (some take 2-3 headshots) and he's still doing that FUCKING SIDE-STEP dodge. FUCK THAT FUCK THAT....have them retreat, duck, roll behind a tree, STRAFE!!! Something other than side-step over and over. Then comes the "let's throw in more and more guys who just happen to be hiding in this little cave" shit. 15 guys in one shitty little cave? FUCK. ACK!

Don't get me wrong, first playing it....I said "wow, this is why I wanted a ps3 and I can't wait to see what they do with this thing". I'm just saying that as an exclusive, this is not must-have next gen game play (simply because I hate the shooting.......and I love shooters). Everything else is spot-on in this game but I am furious at the platform/shoot/shoot/platform cycle that the game continues to through at you.

I can promise that the Angry Video Game Nerd will cover this game in 20 years.

I had to put it down somewhere after
I climbed that tower where the skeleton was holding a key and well into some jetski action

Back to other suggestions.....PAIN, even though repetitive and very shallow.........can not be ripped out of the hands of my wife and friends when Cookie is being played with. They love making that poor woman knock the holy shit out of grandma and throwing her down the subway stairs. "One more time" is all they ever say.

    stuff

YMMV then, because honestly there was not a single aspect of the shooting that I disliked.

yeah, for me it has one of the deepest and most flexible combat engines around, and the ai is brilliant. i mentioned in an se++ thread, when you see a pirate or a merc doing something dumb or over-the-top, it seems more like cheesy acting than it is bad programming - the enemies really have that much life and character. i've played through it heaps of times, on all the difficulty levels, and it never gets boring. the set pieces always play out differently and there's so much room for creativity and strategy. i think it's only because of the great, gorgeous platforming that people feel unexcited by the combat - they have a set idea about how the game is going to work out and what 'sort' of game they'll be playing. it isn't any sort of game, it has platforming and combat elements each of which could be their own satisfying games, but instead we get them in one awesome package oh man i love uncharted

Looks like I'll have to give Uncharted a rental at the very least.

Don't forget that there are also some pretty awesome jetski and jeep levels. And holy shit the water in the jetski levels really looks and feels like real water. Except in a few small sections I would have believed it was FMV cut into the game.

Is it possible to find randoms online in Calling all Cars?

I'm thinking of picking up some PSN titles. I've already got Super Stardust HD, I'm going to buy Everday Shooter, and I'm considering Calling All Cars and Pain.

Bamelin: Buy flOw. It's cheap and really good. Pain is fun for just dicking around with some buddies, plus you can toss mimes around.

I played the flash version of Flow on the PC (I think it's the same game right)? I thought it was ok, but it didn't blow me away. Is it alot better on the PS3?

It's entirely controlled using the tilt sensor. Makes it an entirely different game. Trust me.

Pixeljunk racers is a blast. It took me about 3 hours to really and truly master it but now I play it quite a bit. I'm pretty pumped for Pixeljunk monsters.

I'm ashamed no one has mentioned Assassin's Creed or Orange Box yet. Both are must-haves. Unless you hate repetiveness.

He has a 360. I would buy both of these on the 360 first. PS3 version of AC is buggy, OB has framerate issues, and of course you don't get achievements on either one.

The first build of AC, not ao hot. Patch has fixed all, though. Heard of issues with OB, haven't been a problem on mine yet.

Yeah, that was going to be my next recomendation - sell the 360! :P I guess all else being equal, having Achievements vs. Not for the same price, it'd make sense to go with the 360 version, but honestly I don't find Achievements that interesting. But that's another thread.

EDIT: Ah, he's already got them on the 360. Nevermind.

Question regarding UT3 on PS3. I've played damn near all the Unreal Engine 3 games on 360 and I'm painfully aware of the very noticeable texture pop-in due to the inability to use the HDD for caching. Is this not an issue on the PS3 since it has a guaranteed HDD?

Because if so I think UT3 will be so bought. Plus the whole KB&M controls and inclusion of mods are certainly relevant to my interests.

I'm an achievement whore. Rather I was. I'm starting to get sick of them. I'm fairly OCD so leaving a game not complete is like torture. But the PS3 lightens that weight for now.

Maps load prematch, so you'll see all the textures fill in as you're waiting for the timer to count down to begin game . Once the map is loaded, the match will start and you will not see any pop-in in-game.

It is always awesome to see people's reactions to Uncharted. Glad you like it. It has all the treasures and Medal Points to collect, so that should satisfy the OCD in you.

I enjoyed the Ratchet and Clank demo, but not enough to go right out and by the full game. Currently playing through it on rental and I'll agree that is much better than the demo would lead you to believe. It's equally as gorgeous in it's toon style as Uncharted is in it's realistic style.

While I'm here, is anyone willing to share their download of Super Stardust HD with me? I would have had it downloaded by now but the Playstation store still does not recognize Newfoundland as a legitimate billing address for my credit card. I also want to try out High Velocity Bowling, as my closest friends and I are on a rel-life 10pin bowling team.

I loved the combat in uncharted, but yeah some people don't like it which is why I say try the demo. (Even though the demo doesn't give a good feel of the game you can tell after two playthroughs whether you will like the combat)

Bamelin: I thought Flow was overrated, I bought it hoping I could get my wife to play with me, but she isn't interested. I haven't tried Calling all Cars in awhile so I can't tell you if its possible to find a game. I'll load it up tonight and let you know. (I might even be willing to share a game or two with ya)

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
