If we team up is it just one monster we fight or would the group supposedly fight them all? I'm somewhat confused on that part. Also how is treasure given out to groups since you get one per monster you face.
Everyone faces all the monsters together. So if you're +10, and I'm +8, and we team up, we'll squeak by and kill two +9 mobs.
In the scenario you described the players will die.
The players total combined poower must be greater than the combined mobs power.
So if, after all bonuses had been accounted for, one player had a power level of 9 and the other 10, while the mobs were both power 9, then 19> 18, yielding player victory.
If you were to team up with a halfling, would the monster still gain its bonus versus halflings? Or any other mixed combination versus a monster who is more effective against one team mate?

Of course at least 1 of the clowns would get that anti-halfling bonus. According to the rules of the actual munchkin game, EVERY one of the clowns your group was fighting would get its bonus against halflings.
I'm not sure what would happen if there were more than one halfling in the group tho. I'm guessing it wouldn't be pretty.
3 halflings vs 3 clowns -> +15 bonus each would be awesome.
I might entertain some trades for a warrior item I have. It's pretty sweet. I'd accept some general cards or equal value or a combination of things as well.

No. You gain levels when you kill monsters, or if youhave a special card that says you can.
Classes and Race effect things like items and how certain monsters will react to you, etc
