To Start WOW again or to not Start WOW again

I'm pretty much like the guy with the black hair in the latest penny arcade comics.. sorry don't know the names.

Anyway i've been thinking about starting up wow again(a friend started who lives far away) But there is the constant fear that i'll become more obsessed and have to work at it like a job..

Pretty much Sums me up

i'm worried about what i'll become >_> some sort of lifeless shell inhabiting my chair :(

So like all other Extremely personal questions such as pondering the universe and my place in it i would like to turn to complete Strangers to make my decision for me.

Please help me?

It's a trap, don't do it. Do you really want to pay a monthly fee for a game that you cannot actually finish at any point?

    Seriously, don't.

I just went back to WoW after almost a year off. So far, I'm having fun with it.

That said, if you feel like you'd be "addicted" to the game, don't play. If you have a group of friends to play with, and can keep yourself down to logging in now and then, playing for a while, and logging off, then there's no harm. Have a good time.

Wouldn't do anything, since you can just download the client.

But, I say, if you're having fun, go ahead and come back. Screw what other people say, even if WoW-hating is "in-fashion" with twits.

A lot of it is who you play it with. If you find a good guild or play with some RL friends, the game can be just as fun as any other. If you're stuck in a shitty guild full of 16 year olds on some 5-day raiding schedule, then it becomes the soul-sucking monstrosity it is being accused of being.

I've been there. I quit the game once. Now I'm just playing in a small guild, and having a great time. As long as you set realistic goals (for instance, my current goals are to get my Shaman his epic flying mount, and to get my level 63 Priest to level 70), and don't overdo it, then WoW is a fantastic experience.

I played this from launch to about the following February often enough to have some sweet gear and hit level 60, and I wasn't even an extreme MMO player compared to some of the people that really push the envelope in that regard. I stopped playing that March.

    Haven't looked back since!

Just remember the guild politics bullshit, spending hours trying to organize pubbies, running long dungeon raids and rolling nothing and the retards ... think of the retards!

Nope. Never fucking going back, and neither should you.

    I echo LewieP's sentiments.

There's plenty of other games you could be playing that are awesome and don't suck out your soul.

Honestly, I was thinking of going back to WoW but then I remember how much time it ate up and how few other games I played when I was subscribed to WoW. I'd think 'Why am I playing fun game x when I could be mindlessly grinding mobs for gold!' then I'd go grind for more gold.

    So yeah, don't do it.

I wish I could be like that. I get really sucked into MMOs. It's hard because there's never really an end and your constantly promised better equipment if you spend more time. Also, the fact that your friends advance quicker than you if you don't put in enough time means that I ended up being online more and more.

That's how it was for me anyways. It ate up way too much of my time and I was shrugging off commitments to go on raids. Once I realised what I was doing I though 'fuck that' and quit playing.

I'm sure not everyone gets addicted to it but it's a dangerous game for those that do.

But yeah, I wouldn't advise going back to it.

Edit: Fuck, I forgot about the expansion. Is there a PA guild?

I broke my WoW habit the only way I could, and if you haven't done it yet I suggest you do it too. Delete your characters. I had a 70 Paladin and a 58 Priest, among others. Every time I've thought about going back, I think about all the time I'd spend grinding my character back to 70 and I immediately think about doing something else.

Deleting? Like that does anything. When you delete your character, Blizzard still has it saved. It takes all of 2 minutes to have a GM restore them all.

Are you referring to leveling up or gearing up? Because leveling up is probably one of the reasons the game has 10,000,000 subscribers. The leveling process has been praised by tons of people and was improved significantly last content patch.

Gearing up...I like doing PvE stuff for meager blues. It's appealing and the instances are still somewhat challenging before you don godlike epics. Gearing up for PvP is like pulling teeth.
