Eh, I was actually thinking she could just make an original character rather then bring one in, as to avoid legal issues and the like. Although if they can give us Angol Fear and just say she's the cousin of Angol Mois, then I don't see what could stop them from putting in, say, Inu's dad or something.

Same with Slayers, but if they actually could bring in a Slayers character, I'd go with Xelloss, if only to balance out sword cast. Plus he's cool.

Is there any context that came with the pics of the anime girl with the spiky bra? She could be an example of the character creation system. Only reason I can think of on why see looks different then the other characters.

No, she's a character made by some Japanese artist - think Necrid from SC2.

Huh? I always thought Sophitia was supposed to be a Norse style fighter. But maybe that's just cuz of the hair.

Edit: a quick spin around wiki shows that she is, in fact, Greek. Athenian, to be specific. So yeah, no idea what's up with the hair and design. But I dunno, the skimpy, semi-transparent flowing robe does have that Greek vibe to it, I think.

Sophie has basically never changed since Soul Edge visually. I mean her extra costumes do, but her basic costume has been pretty identical over the entire series. This includes her hair.

Dunno why you would have an issue with this now .

And Sophie has always been my true love over the entire series. I could argue with her face in 2, but now she just looks... kinda creepy.

OK. I see peoples point about the spikey nipple chic being completely out of character for this game.
What I dont get, is why people care.

In the post above where they show the three different faces and you see hers in the middle, it doesnt look right, granted, but in the shot above where shes fighting it totally works.

And who knows, maybe her alternate costume will be a more conventional SCIV look and feel?

And the same goes for Dath Vader and Yoda. Ok, so they dont fit the story and ok, how the hell could they have gotten there, but people have already stated in this thread how cool it would be for a star wars fighter to be made, so just enjoy the fact that you will get to play with Vader or Yoda and kick some arse with a light saber or some force skillz. It's gonna be fun. As far as 3D fighters go, SC1 and SC2 are right up there, and as long as they've learned from the mistakes of 3, which it looks like they have, this is gonna be another top notch fighter with the added bonus of being able to fight as Dath Vader or Yoda.

Just enjoy it for what it is guys, a quality 3D fighter.

Style is a big part of fighting games, and that style should stay consistent. You can have anyone from Link to Vader to Batman to Gimli so long as they're all similar graphically. They could just make that random anime chick's face actually look like a human face and she'd be fine instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. Even Smash bros does things to make the cartoony characters mesh with the more realistic ones (like making Mario's overalls more-world denim-like for instance).

2 was a quality fighter. 3 Wasnt so much. It was made with a different mindset, and this one is following that mindset.

SC changed to a single player mindset with 3. And this lessened the quality of its 2 player action. 4 will most likely do the same thing. Unless they get lucky.

I have little faith in anything other than some closure to the story that I used to love. Other than that, I will buy it simply out of faith. 2 Will always be the game that comes out when my friends "want to play some calibur"

I think it was Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. The characters did not have dubbed English voices, and their victories and taunts were all in Japanese.

It was so freakin enthusiastic, I thought it fit perfectly. Is there a way to get that for SC2 or 3?

You can turn on Japanese voices in SC2. It's actually not something I typically do in games but after hearing the Japanese Yoshimitsu's awesome voice vs. his lame-as-hell English one, I had to.

To be honest, given that the characters all come from different parts of the world, I've always thought it would be really cool if they all spoke their native language.

Only thing that bugs me is the fact that they could have used all the effort to make a new character that's totally not lame. Though really, in the end, it's not really a big deal for me.

SCIII sucked to high hell because they didn't do public open/closed player testing, which is fucking vital for fighting games. That's why it was pretty horrible when it came to balancing and character movesets(Although it gave birth to Broken Sophitia and I do not mind one bit).

Apparently, they are planning to do these playtests for 4.
