The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Live-action Dragonball starts August 15...not even Dragonball Z! Even with a $100 million budget, that movie's got great potential for cheese. And opening August 8, Journey to the Center of the Earth...in 3D! And starting August 29, Babylon A.D...a sci-fi action flick starring Vin Diesel!
Maybe our chances of finding a completely empty theater (or a theater with people willing to join us in mocking the movie) would be higher if we found one of those $1.50 "after theater" theaters?
You know the ones, where they show movies that are like a year old in the theater, but the tickets are dirt cheap and almost no one goes to them. There's one just down the road from me here in Sacramento, and sometimes if you go there you'll be the only person there. Or sometimes, for a particularly bad movie, the people there are already thinking the same thing (heckling, that is).
If there's still one around in Seattle, that could be a plan...?
From what the Studios have officially announced, here are all the release dates for the month of August up until Thursday, Aug 28th (The day the Pre-PAX movie would be):
Aug 1st:
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Choke
He's Just Not That Into You
Swing Vote
Aug 8:
Blindness
Pineapple Express
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Eagle Eye
Aug 15:
Dragonball
Towelhead aka Nothing Is Private
Wild Child
The International

Usually this isn't a problem as the we go to the movie quite late. I went to the one in 2006 and there were maybe 6 other people in the theater and that was at the downtown Bellevue theater.

Last year it was >.>
Most all of us got thrown out for being annoying to the other patrons. It sucked.
Well, maybe last year they didn't go late enough? Something must be possible to allow it to happen... either going to one that we know will be empty/full of hecklers anyways, or renting out our own theater room for a private showing, or something.
I think with Bumbershoot being the same weekend Seattle is going to be pretty packed. I don't think we have a great chance of finding an empty theater.

Aug 22:

I Know What Boys Like
Fly Me to the Moon
That is 15 movies. Narrow it down to 10 movies and then we ask Moe to make us a Pre-PAX movie poll.
The ones I am into are:
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Dragonball
Blindness
plot: "Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop (Diesel) takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah."
HELLO ?!
*NEW* Edit
As Qs23 and I discussed on the IRC. This movie does release the 29th, a day later. There could be a midnight showing the night before, not sure cause I do not live in the area and I am not sure the name of the shitty theater in the mall we were all kicked out during the Invasion. One old woman comes at 4 pm to watch a movie and we have to suffer ! She should have known.

Oh man, if we do a midnight show, we'd probably already be drunk from the bar crawl...

1. 6pm - Pre-PAX Dinner
2. 9pm - Bar Crawl
3. 12am - Pre-PAX Movie (note that the theater in the Westlake center sold beer. IIRC)
4. 2am - ???
5. PROFIT
There's a theater out here that's BYOB. They used to let you smoke inside, too, before Illinois imposed the public smoking ban. If only these were a national phenomenon.

Man, last weekend I was so drunk I fell down, bruised my hip, my friend broke his finger in the same fall, then I came home and played terrible drunk rock band drums.

yes you did. I did the same last night, minus the falling. And with more singing than drums. At 6am.
my roommate didn't think my rendition of cherub rock was worth listening to at full volume.

It will be terrifyingly intoxicating. You are coming, right?
I won't participate in the drunken part but I will take part in the watching the movie part. I shall be the guiding light and make you people do bad things while you are drunk. It shall be a grand old time!

The Dark Knight should be out around PAX time.... Not so crappy movie.
Lots of potential for cheesy movies during PAX.

You are a traitor to your own smoking kind.
What?
Man, I quit two months ago.
is that why you have been so drunk lately?

Most likely. Who wants duty free booze?
Only if it's Fosters.
How about some Bundaberg rum? Fosters is easier to get in Canada than here.
Emu's choice strawberry snapps.
Back on subject. Lets invite everyone but atlus.
Considering at least 2 people are planning to throw up on me I thought I was already invited.

I was just going to start drinking a bunch of Skol vodka if I ran into you
It's like ipecac but it also gets you drunk
Absolut and beer is like that for me. It's like pure death! The day after that is.
I am so up for this.
