Anybody have any idea what crappy movies are coming out in August, or is it too soon to know?

Yeah, it'd be nice to see a movie in an actual nice theatre as opposed to the ones in my town.

Live-action Dragonball starts August 15...not even Dragonball Z! Even with a $100 million budget, that movie's got great potential for cheese. And opening August 8, Journey to the Center of the Earth...in 3D! And starting August 29, Babylon A.D...a sci-fi action flick starring Vin Diesel!

Lots of potential for cheesy movies during PAX.

Maybe our chances of finding a completely empty theater (or a theater with people willing to join us in mocking the movie) would be higher if we found one of those $1.50 "after theater" theaters?

You know the ones, where they show movies that are like a year old in the theater, but the tickets are dirt cheap and almost no one goes to them. There's one just down the road from me here in Sacramento, and sometimes if you go there you'll be the only person there. Or sometimes, for a particularly bad movie, the people there are already thinking the same thing (heckling, that is).

If there's still one around in Seattle, that could be a plan...?

Usually this isn't a problem as the we go to the movie quite late. I went to the one in 2006 and there were maybe 6 other people in the theater and that was at the downtown Bellevue theater.

Well, maybe last year they didn't go late enough? Something must be possible to allow it to happen... either going to one that we know will be empty/full of hecklers anyways, or renting out our own theater room for a private showing, or something.

I think with Bumbershoot being the same weekend Seattle is going to be pretty packed. I don't think we have a great chance of finding an empty theater.

That is 15 movies. Narrow it down to 10 movies and then we ask Moe to make us a Pre-PAX movie poll.

The ones I am into are:
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
    Dragonball
    Blindness

Why are we excluding probably the biggest Sci Fi movie for that weekend opening the weekend of PAX !!?!

    Babylon A.D.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364970/

    two words: Vin Diesel

plot: "Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop (Diesel) takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah."

    HELLO ?!

    *NEW* Edit

As Qs23 and I discussed on the IRC. This movie does release the 29th, a day later. There could be a midnight showing the night before, not sure cause I do not live in the area and I am not sure the name of the shitty theater in the mall we were all kicked out during the Invasion. One old woman comes at 4 pm to watch a movie and we have to suffer ! She should have known.

There's a theater out here that's BYOB. They used to let you smoke inside, too, before Illinois imposed the public smoking ban. If only these were a national phenomenon.

yes you did. I did the same last night, minus the falling. And with more singing than drums. At 6am.

my roommate didn't think my rendition of cherub rock was worth listening to at full volume.
