Im going with my dad to blockbuster soon, and we want a movie like Master and Commander, an epic, perhaps historical movie, that is well acted. A bit of humor, but plenty of story.
Glory maybe? Not too violent, historical, fairly epic, and I believe the plot developed well. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097441/
Possibly The Patriot, though that gets pretty violent
Letters from iwo jima is good but it's pretty much the most depressing movie ever. Not a good choice if you're looking for humor. There is a series called "Sharpe's Rifles" that you might enjoy. It's based off the books, stars Sean Bean and there's a bunch of them. I think each is about an hour long, they're very historical and there's some decent humor in them.
EDIT: might be kind of hard to find at blockbuster though
I really liked Kingdom of Heaven, especially the Director's cut. It is more violent than Master and Commander, but not over the top gore. Less violent than say, Gladiator.

I wanna see their faces turn to backs of heads and slowly get smaller
