New an interesting games to invent in line this year.
oh jesus, why did I ever remind you of that horrible, horrible thread
edit: just a note to people, putpocket was the worst PAX-game ever proposed last year and I found the thread about it when I was searching for the old bad pickup lines thread (which I never did find). putpocket is not a real game and you shouldn't go reaching into people's pockets
That was a joke post, nobody's putting their hands in anybody's pockets
Why not have the same game as put pocket, but instead of having to sneak it into their pocket, you just have to walk up to someone and convince them to take it off you.
"Hi, can you take this card off me"
Then the rules explain that they have to make sure they give the card to someone else, and avoid ever getting a card in the future.
At the start of the convention, people would be willing to accept these cards, but by the end of the convention, lots of people would know the rules and refuse to take the card off you.
If you can sneakily pass a card to someone without them realising what it is, like, I dunno, just telling them to "hold this a sec" or otherwise trick someone who already knows the rules to take it, then fine, but you shouldn't go through other peoples pockets.
You could say that the cards have "cooties", and by virtue of being in the possession of a card, the owner also does, and needs to get rid of the card to be rid of them.

I want to hand out actual contact-cards at PAX, though -- I somehow suspect that this game would result in me not actually giving said contact information to anyone. >.>
You could always show people the card before they have to accept it off you.
I just finished informing myself of putpocket. Bad game
this game=good game.
However, wouldn't this idea sort of defeat the purpose of the game
Well, the idea would be that if it was done on a big enough scale, by the end of the weekend the challenge would just be to either:
A) Find someone still unaware of the game (which would be an ever decreasing number of people)
Think up new and inventive ways to trick someone into taking it off you.
I dunno, I just like everything about the sound of putpocket except the aspect of putting your hands in random people's pockets. I was just trying to think of a way to have a similar social without infringing on peoples privacy.

I definitely think this brainstorming is leading to a game that'd be a lot more fun/less creepy than the original putpocket idea.
I could see someone, for example, offering a person some of their free swag that they just got from a booth (like a T-Shirt), only to find when they unfurl the coiled bundle that there's a "gotcha" card in it.
We're all about "stuff-to-do-in-lines," and although we're cooking on some stuff over here, we'd love to hear what you guys are thinking of as well. Last year we just dumped a huge box of pipecleaners to see what would happen... i wish i had pics of some of the stuff that you guys came up with - it was sweet.
Especially the painstakingly crafted hanged cat inspired by Gabe's story.
I remember the pipe cleaners.. and the hanged cat..I was totally sitting next to you in that line!
We actually had the concept of placing a giant 30' x 30' blank banner onto the ground and then dumping a bunch of sharpies off to see what would happen.

edit: okay, I found the original thread from last year, it's good for a laugh and will hopefully alleviate concerns about this

The banner and putpocket ideas are gold, by the by.
