I mean, high-priced prostitutes have to be expensive. And when you are governor of New York, the extra "don't say anything to anyone, ever" fee has got to be ridiculous.

$3,300 per hour was what I heard. Or something like that. Def over 3,000
He had so much to lose especially with his past and what he said he stood for. I mean, if he had a mistress or something it would be a thing, but not catch national headlines like it is now. I just don't get it.
second, in a capitalist environment, the customer has to be able to look at the offered product,
You're referring to prostitutes as a "product" here. You managed to capture the dehumanization of prostitutes without even realizing it. At best prostitutes are offering a service, not a product. If somebody is interviewing for a data entry position, you don't inspect the flexibility of their typing fingers. If hiring a contractor for heavy construction work, you don't measure the size of their biceps. Why would the analogous behavior be acceptable for prostitutes unless prostitutes were essentially objects?
I don't think it's that much of a slip. It's analogous to hiring an actor, where appearance is about as important as ability in many cases, or arguably even more important in others (300).
is power derived from being considered a useful tool really the same as power derived from actually being smart, independent, etc.? i'll admit, one does seem more legitimate than the other.
No. I could go on.

There's one guy who tries to expose the men who are caught soliciting sex in his area I think he has a tv show that reveals who gets caught I can't remember the name of it it was a while ago since I heard about it the sad thing is that this is basically the worst that can happen to a 'john' and it's really nothing but a momentary embarrassment.
Also I have to wonder how humiliated his wife feels right now because he just couldn't keep it in his pants.

She looks like an empty shell of a woman and this cheating business has apparently been going on for years, which really should have given people more pause before they voted for him...

Question: is the paradigm that Spitzer has been involved in one that is abusive to women?
It seems to me to be several orders of magnitude (simply observing the money involved) different from most things that would be regarded as obviously abusive, insofar as it doesn't seem like it's something the women involved in it are entangled in something they can't get out of.
The more money that's involved the more dangerous things like this can get. Who knows the guy running it could be some wannabe Goodfella.

Well prior to this everyone thought he was a real deal family guy. Hell he's had the press to his house for family BBQs before.
Holy shit, apparently he spent about $80,000 on this over the past 4 years.
The "hobbyists" who do this sort of thing will drop an incredible amount of money for the "service". And that figure probably doesn't include all the jewlery and other gifts he probably bought for the girls.

I believe it was actually $4,300 for two hours. That's what CNN said during last night's newscast.
Less than 24 hours after he was sworn in to replace a governor who left office in disgrace because of a prostitution scandal, Gov. David A. Paterson admitted that he had had relationships with women other than his wife, including one who is on the state payroll.
A nonissue does not get brought up during a televised speech. It's miles away from what Spitzer did though, and I don't think less of them for talking about it. Pretty much the opposite.
I found out the other day that the girl went to the same high school that I did, one year ahead of me. We only actually were in the same school when I was in 7th grade and 9th grade, because she moved away after that, and I don't think I ever actually met her. I did get to see a friend of mine on the news though, talking about when they were Danny and Sandy in Grease.
It's kind of irritating to have a tangential relationship to the whole thing, because otherwise I wouldn't care at all.
Edit: She was voted Best Looking when she was in 8th grade. Dammit, I shouldn't care!

It's a non issue.
In other news, Paterson is pretty hilarious for a politician.
One local radio station has a themed "8 songs at 8 AM" thing every morning. This morning it was Spitzer-themed. I forget which songs were on it, though. Some Green Day song with an appropriate title was one of them.
Another radio station had an advertisement for a "politicians and escorts" party at a club this weekend.
Sorry, no million dollars for you, you already squandered it in seven (!) other movies.
I've saw some GGW videos a couple years back. While most of it is mind-numbingly dull and embarassing (they strip for free hats and shirts), the girl/girl stuff is pretty damn explicit.
I love how explicit lesbian porn can be advertised on TV and sold at Sun Coast. It's only when a man is fucking a woman (or another man or maybe a she-male) on camera that it's "real" porn.
I'll have to keep my eye out for those GGW tapes. I want more fodder to laugh at her spoiled poor little rich girl ass.

I kind of wish he was standing at the same podium.
This isn't news. It is a total nonissue.

It's official, then— GGW ruins lives.
She may have been 17 at the time of the old shoots--The plot thickens! Wait, you can take nude photos of 17 year olds in Florida? I thought over 18 was a federal law. I guess that only applies to sex.
