Ladies, Gentlemen, Barry Buttons...
You all know the VideoGaiden review of
God Hand.
If you don't, watch it now, then go play God Hand.
Basically, VideoGaiden is a BBC Scotland Video Games show that manages to be genuinely hilarious, intelligent, self deprecating, postmodern, arrogant, contemporary and charming all at the same time. The antithesis of the vast majority of video games TV I have seen.
Here is a picture of
the time I met the hosts, Rab and Ryan -
It's all free to stream on their web site
here, although I imagine it might be blocked for non-UK folk, I am sure some clever person can post a way to get around their filtering.
Anyway, they have now decided to open their site for reader reviews. Got a game you want to make a video review of? Why not have it hosted on the BBC and achieve
minor internet fame.
They probably say it better than me
The rules are -
1. You must be over 18
2. No copyrighted material (so no screenshots of the game, or boxart), and the video must be all your own work
3. No naughty words.
4. In contributing you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media. (See the Terms and Conditions for the full details of your and our rights)
5. You still own the copyright to everything you contribute to BBC videoGaiden. This means you are perfectly free to take what you have produced and re-publish it somewhere else
6. The BBC cannot guarantee that all videos will be published
7. If chosen, your name will be published alongside your video
8. Keep it clean and teen-friendly - no swearing please
9. By submitting content you are agreeing to abide by the rules outlined above
10. Submit content to
videogaiden@bbc.co.uk
I plan on doing a video review of
something over my easter break.
If you haven't heard of or seen anything these guys have done before, I sincerely suggest you check out Consolevania too, it's their first program they made before they sold out to the BBC or something, all available
here (let me know if the torrents aren't seeded and I'll try and find another download source)

They are sound, sound peeps. I feel they might kill half this board if they had a chance though.
But Charlie Brooker loves them and as we all know - he's right about everything.
2009 is a year of Updates - one every Monday. Hopefully. xx
I've just found this Charlie Brooker reviewing VG's home made games. Ahh.
I've yet to work my way through all the episodes of VG or Consolevania, but of what I've seen it's universally excellent. Except when they didn't like Mario and Sonic. The Wrongsters.

I mean, the first episode opens with the Shenmue drinking game. How can you not love it.
Anyone want to beta read a paranormal mystery novella? Here's your chance.

At the very least, just a monologue would be fine. They have said it can just be you sat next to your PC talking about a game for 3/4 minutes.
I have a bit of a bigger idea for a review that I plan on making, but it's up to you!
The terms and conditions don't say anything about you needing to be from the UK.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
Bah, humbug. Videogaiden is most civilized, intelligent gaming show around.
And every single one of their reviews has been brilliant.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
Would you describe that as a massively difficult task.
The two of them are... patchy, but funny sometimes, and decent reviewers otherwise.
They are very hit and miss, sometimes they can actually be semi-amusing, but the bad unfunny segments tend to outweigh the good.
This is what I thought too when I saw it.
Next time I see you, I will tell you how much you should like it, and how you make the baby jesus cry for not liking it. :P
Wait bongi, so you're saying it's not a game about punching people?
i am saying it was a bad game about punching people*
*i never actually played god hand
