So I lost my job Sunday night. My boss called me to let me know that we've done such a great job that where ahead of where he usually is and he no longer need half of us. So me and 4 other people are out of a job.

I work part time at a local GameStop and so my boss there is giving me some extra hours while I find a new job. So far no good though. 2 days in and I've applied in persron to 5 places and online at 12. Hopeing for a call back. Also theres on face to face interviews at a new SubWay opening up and some new grill place called Z Grill on thursday so I guess I'll see how that goes.

Anywho I figured I'm not the first person to have the unemployed/underemployed blues so I figured I'd make a thread so we can all talk about when we lost good jobs, quit bad ones, and how we all found good ones again!

I lost my job a few years back when funding didn't come through. I lived off my unemployment benefits for 8 months before I finally got another job.

those were the best 8 months. waking up at 11 every day, going to the gym, lounging about. it was rad.

Whats your degree in? I'm going for nursing so I know when I'm done it'll be super ass easy to get a job. Also are you willing to relocate? I have a friend who had to move to NY city for his job, but it pays super good.

I worked for Diebold and the board of elections in the neighboring county for 3 weeks prior to the November 2005 election on the voting machines. It was fat pay for easy work. Plus they paid mileage for me to drive out there. I don't even know how they found me. I just got an email one day from some third party temp agency out of nowhere. It was great since it happened in the middle of me being unemployed for the month and a half prior.

Right now I'm trying to network my way into a paid position in Oregon, otherwise I'll just live off my stipend from last month/my mutual fund that I still need to cash out.

I've been promised a job for the General Election by the woman who was state director in Cali, though, so I just have to survive until july.

Man trust me. Wacky adventures end up badly. Usually wind up with me and at least 1 friend lost in the woods/mountains/City poor and in pain. I've had all my wacky adventures when I was younger.

Well, thats more than twice what I pay for rent now at a pretty decent place, including utilities. Though yeah, her place is a dream place. It is a short walk away from the best little hole in the wall ramen place in the city.

Good luck man. What position are you applying for?

Also my dad just called me from work. I guess his plant is looking for temporary people to work afternoons for awhile and asked all the current employees if they had any family they wanted to work there. 14 an hour isn't bad at all. And while its not upscale like whats around me, its a job.
