I think there's a lot of point-missing here. The idea is that people sign up for a PvP server hoping for good PvP -- optimism, certainly -- and find nothing but ganking. It's not unreal for them to expect at least SOME fun from it, but that almost never happens.

A tradeskill server, perhaps, where someone logs in and finds their tradeskills will generate nothing but useless crap for six months, while there are an overabundance of people with awesome stuff that is the only stuff anyone will ever use. I think they'd have a right to be annoyed too.

Bolded part -- you mean like a lot of tradeskills in the pre-300 range now? :P Please don't misunderstand my tone, I understand that some people like PvP. But I'm afraid I do see the point, and that's why I don't play on a PvP server.

I go back to my version of the nudist beach comparsion -- you signed up hoping for Natalie Portman. I've experienced unfettered PvP (in pre-Trammel UO) and you're going to get more Roseanne Barrs & Rosie O'Donnel's. As long as some structure is not enforced, ganking is very much a part of the PvP server experience (which is why PvE to PvP transfers are unlikely to ever be allowed).

What I like about PVP servers is that you can get good PVP on them, most of it isn't but your entire play time 20-70 there's this chance of an awesome battle breaking out at any time.

Saying that though this happens far more on the PVE server I spend most of my game time on now than it ever does on the PVP servers I play on.

I realized, unfortunately after the post, that this would be jumped on. I still feel strongly that "you rolled pvp so deal with it" stance is pointless taunting.

The nudist beach example is not appropriate. These people are not expecting perfection all the time -- that's ridiculous. They hope for at least some fun sometimes, which would be a relatively good sample of the population. Instead of a decent variety of fugly to average to good-looking, the current pvp situation is like showing up and getting a 500-pound hairy elephant of a man tackling you and grinding his buttcheeks into your face, while screaming in a Bobcat Goldthwait voice, "TAKE IT OR LEAVE! TAKE IT OR LEAVE! LOLLERCAUST!"

Is it really fair to think that's "just what you get" for rolling on a pvp server? Thinking so is horribly cynical, even if it is true. There's no justice in it, and so the people who complain about this are perfectly justified in doing so.

Additionally, Blizzard has done piss and crap to improve the situation. Rather than try to help make PvP a more interesting and engaging environment, they've turned a completely blind eye to it and just let assholes run amok and do whatever they want. Their duty to their subscribers is to make their experience reasonably enjoyable. They have failed.

It is their private enterprise and practically, they have full reign. That doesn't mean people can't complain about the situation. Taunting the complainers that they can take it or leave is just meaningless point-scoring; all it serves is to try to make them look bad for social "gains". This is very poor behavior, and really a form of trolling.

It's been noticed that middle pop realms seem to be moving ahead faster than higher pop ones due to circumstances much like that. On higher pop realms there's too many people bombing simultaneously so then each person has to run it 2-5 times which counteracts the higher amount of people doing quests. On lower pop servers there's plenty of quest mobs for the pickin but there's not enough people to speed things along. On middle pop servers, though, there's just enough people to nudge the spawn cap, not to be crowded at the bombing, and to have enough people to push ahead with the construction.

    Happiness:

Friday night I was there for my first Vashj kill ever (but not guild first). And got to AoE tank the first event in Hyjal. And we killed Rage Winterchill.

And Tonight, I succsefully tanked Solarian, add tanked A'lar, and in Kael tanked the staff, dagger, and then Telonicus. But, rest of raid couldnt keep up and we never killed Kael. =\

Also, broke 14k hp unbuffed now, and almost 300 spell dmg unbuffed. awesomness.

Happy: Getting the cudgel from heroic Mr T and finally now within 70 points of 1k spell damage, through Kara, Badge, & Heroic gear.

Sad: Having not enough people on to run Kara this weekend :(

Happy: Realizing that with the aforementioned 1k spell damage and considering I already pull aggro at 800 spell damage with little effort, that a Kara run would probably have resulted me in being the main tank the entire instance. Boomchicken don't like tanking.

Eh, too many points to sacrifice from elsewhere for a measly 12% reduction to threat. I'd -love- to ditch the two points in entangling roots/cyclone pushback but thanks to the marvel that is the Balance tree, we're just forced to spend points in shit I can do without. I can make do with a better cast rotation I suppose.

Happy: Kara run tonight. No CC whatsoever.

Normally that would be a bad thing, but not this group. A guildie asked if I wanted to join in on this group's badge collecting spree. I don't know what the hell they were rocking with, but we steamrolled the place. Oh we had CC. A priest could have shackled, or the hunter could have laid traps, but nope, never touched them. Just had the paladin tank everything, and everything dropped FAST. I think my jaw hit the floor when we reached Moroes. No CC, we all just ran up, knocked out all 4 adds in about 30 seconds, and then smacked down Moroes. A full clear and 22 badges in about two and a half hours. I was stunned. This grizzled old warrior was happy to basically be given free reign to whirlwind until the cows came home. Really made me shed a tear for all the pain and hardships we used to have starting out in Kara.

I know that the way aggro reductions work, it's unlikely to be a pure 12%, but that's 12% more damage that you can do before pulling aggro. You just stated that you pull aggro at 800 damage, and you've increased that 25%. Seems to me that while it might not save you from pulling aggro all the time, it'd give your tanks more of a lead, and give you better control over your threat, particularly through spikes/bursts (intentional or otherwise).

There is a reason that Salvation is the most important buff a rogue can have, and we get both a shitty threat reduction skill (Feint) and a full blow aggro drop once per 5 minutes.

Even then, considering their potential for burst damage through crits, and the chance of a resist on feign, I wouldn't call it an unimportant buff for them either.

But yes, for a good hunter, it's signficantly less important as anything but a safety net.

That's not the reason. If I can get Salv after all the other buffs I'll take it.

FD pretty much means we don't pull aggro unless we get unlucky resists.

Some fights though Salv seems like it would be handier than some of the other blessings.
