I thought the same thing haha. Hey sharp I'm heading to the GW at EC this weekend for the first time. Going on a shopping spree!

Cool man! I'm going down there tonight for a big olde game of 40k. If I wasn't busy this weekend, I'd come down and help you out.

I was going to go tonight, but my gf''s hijacking me and making me go roller skating(wtf?), so sunday it is. I was planning on going last weekend, but easter got in the way. I'll end up posting pre-and post-painting pics of whatever I end up with at the 40k forum in critical failues!

    anyways...

I really really like the idea of making it smaller scale with the number of squads. I love micro, but micro with 20 useless squads sucks. Micro with 4 squads, that can all hurt things is so much better.

I just thought of something, Relic's the same company that made the homeworld series right?

How awesome would it be if they tweaked that engine for Warhammer 40K ships. Battlefield Gothic style. Now they package that with the DoW game, allowing you to move your fleet from planet to planet, fighting fleets in space, and then assaulting the planet on the ground via DoW RTS.

I mean...it would take an impossibly long time to make that game, but how awesome would it be?

Isnt that exactly like that Star Wars rts game? the whole concept was stupid in my mind.

Id much prefer Relic just had a team making a complete Homeworld 3. With the license and unannounced projects its almost a lock for sometime in 2009.

I am willing to bet that Tyranids will be playable, and in the core game, not an expansion. I have no idea how their campaigns would work though. I mean, the Necrons might not be chatty bitches but there was dialogue when you played as them and there is a sentience behind the army as a whole. Even the Zerg, which spoke only in squishy flesh sounds, had Cerebrates and Kerrigan to speak for them.

Perhaps the hivemind will communicate, much like the overmind did in Starcraft.

Also, there really was hardly any dialogue from the necrons. The only one I can remember is from their stronghold when a Pariah started talking out of nowhere. Otherwise they're completely silent. I'm sure they'll figure out a way for the nids as well

    That could work.
All chilling on the hive ships, chatting up the dominatrices, drinking DNA smoothies. Buncha genestealers getting rowdy in the corner and getting their asses thrown out of the club by hive guards. Big ol carnifex getting wasted at the bar, crying about how that terminator pulled off his tail.:rotate:

I dont see why IG wouldn't work. Regular guardsmen could just be maybe 12-16 units big, but get reinforcements really quickly(possibly automated, if chosen). Armour would be a big help, as well as ogryns, armored fist, etc etc.

Honestly though, they are going to save races for expansions. That is just common sense. Nids might be their biggest chance of selling a lot of copies of a future DoW2 expansion, so they might just keep them out of the launch

Yeah. Otherwise you might actually have to, you know, work for a win. ;-)

Oh, and I'd sacrifice a major, duplicated organ (you can live with one lung or kidney, right?) for Chaos dreds, if for no other reason than to listen to what a psychotic cyborg entombed in an adamantium plated machine of plasmatic death for centuries would sound like.

Basically, Chaos Marines *hate* being put into dreds, it's not an honor, because they can't *feel* anything anymore, can't taste the blood, ect, so they wind up going insane.

    Consider:

"Let me out...let me OUT!...LET ME OUT YOU BASTARDS!!!!! DAMN YOU ALLLLLLLLLL"

    "Itchy.....tasty....scratchy....."

*hysterical sobbing, gibbering, than laughing, then crying/gibbering then laughing/sobbing followed by a loud shreik then a wail*

"The angels are all dead....DEAD....DEAD...ALL DEAD!!!"

    "Come closer......"

    "killmekillmekillmeKILLMEKILLMEKILLME!!!"

"I can not live...I can not DIE!"

I mean, if you're a sick bastard, you could amuse yourself for a solid 10 minutes clicking on one unit. Beats the hell out of "I am ready to serve....again" for sheer impact, IMHO.
