I really enjoyed Shaun, but I loved Hot Fuzz. Just so fantastic.

    Best death-by-church scene ever.

one part of Hot Fuzz did bug me

when that chick gets it from the shears, Angel just runs after the murderer

police procedure holds safety of innocents and victims about capturing perpetrators, Angel should have known that

Hotfuzz was overall a stronger movie than Shaun of The Dead, but it was severely lacking in the zombie department

Shaun of The Dead was good, I just felt that Hot Fuzz was better.

And I'm pretty tired of the zombie schtick now so whatevs.

    oh my god

You completely left out the best thing Simon Pegg has ever been involved in.

    51V2XM62VPL._AA240_.jpg

Seriously, one of the best sketch shows ever made, and most of the films owe at least something to it. The guns from Hot Fuzz?

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=TQZDFv0aTlk&feature=related

That monkey impression from Shaun of the Dead? Here first:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=r7xgiO_NdkQ&feature=related

Simon Pegg, Mark Heap and Kevin Eldon all in the same show... you can't go wrong

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=WLToN2pjik8&feature=related

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=8aZ83kJz2uc

(Also, Hot Fuzz was nowhere near as good as Shaun.)

    I loved Big Train.

Also, just to piss on everyone's fireworks, you know how The Office was remade in the States and turned out to be a decent success?

Spaced is being remade, and it sounds like there's no guidance from either Ed Wright or Simon Pegg.

Is it true that there is a place in a man's head that if you shoot it it will explode like a watermelon?

Simon Pegg didn't say it but gosh darn it if it isn't my favourite line in Hot Fuzz.

You won't regret it. Both seasons come in the one DVD set, offering a level of value that is almost offensive.

more seriously, i think that possibly shaun was too idiosyncratically british for most people, whereas hot fuzz' funnies were more broadly appreciable by people in different countries

i say this because most non-brits seem to prefer hot fuzz, whereas most brits seem to prefer shaun

I love both films for different reasons. Shaun is like very British people in an entirely Hollywood situation, whereas Hot Fuzz is very Hollywood characters in a very British setting. I think they both do great jobs of finding the comedy in these situations.

    well also

hot fuzz directly invoked american cultural ideas like shoot em up action films

not only was shaun a more british film

fuzz was a more american film

    Oh you're so dead.

    Also, joking!

I died inside when I read about it. Then moreso somehow when I read that there was basically no involvement from Pegg or Wright or anyone else.

Don't listen to them. According To Bex was rubbish, as acknowledged in some sketch that I saw them do together.
It was one of the jokes where Pegg was pleading with her to get back together and make another series of Spaced.
