me and a friend were reminiscing about all the time we put into legends the other day (on 64). We never beat it though, never found all the ruins or whatever?

    "You have found a Runestone!"

They were called Runestones. The Legends/Dark Legacy "Gauntlet Voice" is my personal favorite, with a close second going to the original voice.

If this new game doesn't have The Voice, I won't buy it.

I think I'd have been happier with a more classic 2D look but I guess I can't fault them for wanting to join the 21st century.

I just hope they aren't super draconian with single cart.

"Wait, if we forbid single cart play, we can force people to buy more copies of the game? DONE!"

    Use magic to defeat death.

Looks promising for sure. I'll have to let my old college buddies know about this one. We used to sit around in my dorm playing Legend on the DC. I still remember playing it on the NES as well.

Man, seriously. Fuck that first boss, the red dragon...

Man, he was a wimp. I farmed him for so much money.

Yeah, but with a new character? Yeah that shit was the biggest bitch anywhere.

I looooved the castle levels though. Those were the best I think, Soooo many enemies. I remember just sending off a full special attack and wiping out a huge wave of enemies, only to have the generator pour more out.

    Oh and METEOR SHOWER!

The screenshots have a little marker for north that's turning, and everybody looks to be firing up towards the top screen. I guess this means the character is fixed in the center of the bottom screen facing up, and the world turns around them? That's actually a really good idea, and makes very good use of the vertical screen setup of the DS. The more I think about the way this would play, the more I like it.

That's less draconian and more good business sense, no matter how much we'd like it. I guess if they didn't let you save your character or limited it to the first world, they might do it.

Depends what you consider good business sense.. because I've elected to not purchase at all several DS games that didn't offer single cartridge play. ;)

In that third screenshot, I think the person is facing down.

Bah they probably more than made up for your lost sale with 100+ sales forcing people to buy the game if they want to play the game with their friend.

My experience with MDKS is that every time someone joins the fun who hasn't thought of buying the game yet ends up loving it and buys a copy as well. I think "this is LOADS of fun, but think of how much more fun you'd be having with the full game" is a pretty good marketing strategy. As long as the game is any good, of course.

God dammit Nintendo 64! Give me back my level 99 green wizard!

NO I DO NOT WANT TO "REPAIR" MY MEMORY CARD I KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS

Edit: woah! Repairing actually didn't kill all my data! Awesome!

Also, my Jackal has.... 1,010,856 xp. Awesome :V

Plus I just noticed that there are actually multiple difficulty settings sooooo... time to start a new file on expert :D

Everything about this game, all of it seems far too good to be true

Dammit, every once in a while I think fondly of Gauntlet 64 and want to play it, then forget about it.

Now I will not forget, except I'm not at home with my N64 so playing it is impossible

Thanks for causing me torment, G&T

Gravedigging because wikipedia says this comes out tomorrow, but I can't seem to find any confirming reports anywhere.

    Also, here's some nice boxart:

Still really looking forward to this. I probably should try to preorder it, though.
