The Dark Knight - 'This city deserves a better class of criminal...'
The Dark Knight is an upcoming 2008 American superhero film based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman. The film is a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins, which rebooted the Batman film series after an eight-year hiatus. Christopher Nolan returns as the director, and Christian Bale reprises the lead role. Batman's primary conflicts in the film come from his fight against the Joker (Heath Ledger) and his strained friendship with district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).
Meanwhile early word on "The Dark Knight" is that Chris Nolan's cut clocks in at nearly three hours and it's unlikely to be cut down much further despite the studio's desire for a more manageable 150 minutes. Nolan's "Batman Begins" came in at 140 minutes so a slightly longer runtime for the sequel doesn't seem surprising and the immaculately conceived Devin Faraci over at CHUD thinks that, and I tend to agree, it'll probably come in at about 165 mins.
:^:
Awesome, has it got a release date?
In a bizzare reversal of the norm the film will be released on July 17, 2008 in Australia, on July 18, 2008 in North America and on July 25, 2008 in the United Kingdom.
Tie-in direct-to-DVD animated thing? This is madness!
Nah, its Gotham Knight, a series of animated short films about Batman which has a trailer here
And this news (well, from 3/19 but it's news to me):
Kevin Conroy, the benchmark by which fans compare all “Batman” voices, returns to the title role in Batman Gotham Knight, the third release in the DC Universe Animated Original Movie series from DC Comics, Warner Premiere, Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Animation, it was announced today. The all-new, original movie will street July 8, 2008 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as OnDemand and Pay-per-View. The film will be available for download on the same date.
We (by which I mean you guys) have burned through a hundred-page movie thread before it's even out. Future advertisers will look back on The Dark Knight as the pinnacle of viral advertising.
I'm pretty damn excited, but not as excited as my wife who has been dreaming about going to see the movie lately.
Time to rent a batsuit.
:winky:
Rent? Fuck, I want to buy one. One of my life goals is to have enough money that I can afford to pay the prop company that makes the batsuits and batarangs for the movies to custom make one that fits me. That would be fucking awesome.

As I noted in the other thread; 104 pages here, god knows how many hundreds in SE++, numerous pages in G&T over the upcoming game and/or what might be found within, and even more in GV in both the Comic Movie Thread and Bat-Thread.
I'd say it's a fairly safe assumption that a significant portion of the forums in general are looking forward to this.

Fuck the Batsuit, I want this...
I parked in the same parking lot as that thing for about 2 years. Watched them drive it around a couple of times. Fucking thing was loud, I would've loved to steal it but then Batman would kick my ass.

Yes! Is this for all the shorts, or just one?
He's the man in all 6 segments.
As much as I love Kevin Conroy, I really wish they would have had Bale do the voice for Gotham Knight. It is in the nolan-verse so it just seems like a better fit.
The Tumbler looks much smaller in that picture than it was in person, only because I'm about 20 feet away.
Apparently you couldn't see anything through the Windows so they had monitors all over the inside and very small video cameras mounted on the outside.
One time, I was going on my lunch break and they were pulling the shell of the Batmobile from The 89 movie out of storage and taking it to a local dump. I offered the truck driver a crapload of money and he wouldn't take it to my house instead
I'm so excited about this movie that I made a new sig:
It is designed to complement the one I made a few weeks ago for Satan.:
As always, it's free for anyone who wants to use it. Ideally, someone should put them both in a sig picture rotator and alternate randomly between the two.

3 more months... it'll be somewhere around 50 pages. And than it'll explode.

Hey, thanks!
No idea how to use a signature rotator so I'll just stick with this for now.
I don't know if this should classify as 'spoilers' because we have already seen them before, but here is all the images that were leaked/released since production that I saved in time.. sorry if I missed any.
What does everyone think of the new batsuit? I wonder why they changed it.
Well, for starters, Batman now has the ability to turn his head. I like the new suit more than the Begins suit because it looks less stocky and cumbersome. I think the only thing that bothers me on the new suit is how the bat emblem on the chest has that weird indent down the middle.
I'm not quite sure about the new Batsuit. It all depends on how they film it. If he stays in the shadows I think it'll look awesome, it might look bad in a fully lit environment though.
What does everyone think of the new Batcave? It kinda looks like an Apple Store to me.

Anything that adds mobility, freedom of movement to Batman I'm for. They said it's heavier than the last one but Bale can actually turn and move in this one. It's a little busy design-wise though.
You're right-on with the (temporary) Batcave but they've got an out with him still rebuilding Wayne Manor and a new Batcave.

I'm pretty sure that very last one isn't official.
Psh, that doesn't make me think of an Apple store.
LOL. Okay, yeah, those last pictures seem like an Apple Store after a bad fire. Some of the others though it looked like all the walls were painted white. A lot like the ceiling in those pics.

Probably felt it was appropriate not to scare all the bats away.

Not that the Tumbler isn't frickin' awesome.
Well aside from the bat-cycle in the trailer

It's in the latest trailer (linked in the OP) where he keeps the Batsuit and Tumbler.

Doesn't look like much of a cave.
It does look like the basement of Wayne Tower, however.
Alright, thanks for the heads up, I'll remove it.
