The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
Keep in mind we're still running on borrowed hardware. Hopefully, with the new hardware and any tweaks that Alpha does, we'll be good to go until the new forums come up.
I got the same error too, but I just clicked again, and it was like it never happened.
PS: I feel like the crash is my fault. I muster the courage to join this forum, and it crashes horribly. No matter; the incident is closed and I don't expect (after all the maintenance) that this will be a recurring thing.
Maybe I'm just getting lucky or something, but the 500 errors are hitting in brief cycles, for me. I'll be fine for awhile, and then, I'll get a few, refresh a few times, keep hitting them, and after about 15 seconds they're gone again. Really not that bad. This is with both IE and Firefox.
I've tried Firefox before, but I've been using Opera so long now, I just couldn't get used to the different quirks. IE, I can't really do without tabbed browsing. I know there's Avant Browser, but I haven't really gotten around to trying that yet.

Rather fitting actually.

Three cheers for Alpha!
Agreed.
Also, only about 95% of all the pages are loading, the bottom part of "Reply", "New Topic", etc is missing.
I'm using the newest version of Opera.
How soon until the new forum software is up and running?

When the forums were down, the page Alpha put up said the new software would be created/installed over the summer.
So, think long.
Just kidding. This bug has been around for months now, right? I think Alpha created it for some sort of plot, involving RAND and the reverse vampires.
I can't seem to find any mention of it happening anywhere else, which means it's probably one of the wierd things Alpha's done to phpBB.
Oh, and using Opera the page sometimes changes to some random thread while I'm scrolling down. That's wierd also.
