Alright guys, it has been a very long time for most of us, so you know what we are going to do tonight? We are going to play us some Quake 2.
This game is still one of the best first person shooters out there even after all these years. Sure quake 3 was fine, but at the time, the computer I had could not run it. So Quake 2 it was. So all of you guys either need to dig our your old copies of quake 2, or buy it. You can seriously find it for anywhere from $2 to $20 online now. Also, motherfucker is $10 on steam.
This is fast paced action for those of you who like the UT series.
Teefs and I played a bit last night to try things out and it still fucking rocks. So hey guys, tonight we are going to play this bitch, either jump in vent later or post in this thread and we can get things going. We are most likely going to get this going via Hamachi as the multiplayer options are limited to LAN or IP connection to servers.
Also, if there are only a few of us we might play co-op.

Jump on in vent or just try to join on in, once you get to the hamachi network, put my IP into your quake2 address book. It will be the IP next to Tag

Although maybe Q2 is open source now as well... Q3 might be as well.
And Quakelive is going to be the actual quake 3 free online through a browser, but that is not out yet.
If you can find quake2 for free legally somewhere, awesome, post about it in here, but I have the CD so I did not really bother looking too hard.
I also have my doubts about it being free, since it recently went up for sale on Steam

Man, you put it all the way up on resolution and graphical detail and it is really not bad. Everything looks nice and smooth. And I would rather play this than marathon.. wasn't marathon one of those actual 2D, pseudo 3D games? I tried playing it once but did not get far..
Also as far as playing TF2 instead, sure I have not played it in a few weeks, but everybody is playing TF2, I don't need to make a thread to get people to play TF2... it has just been a while since any of us has played Quake 2, and it is time.

We are in vent. Hamachi network is.. SE + + Quake 2 Password wang. (If you can't join it, just mess around with the spacing in SE++, I am not even sure of it myself)

This thing, it simulates a VPN or network or whatever so we can play games together. Basicallly you join a network, and put in the IP we tell you to.
also you could just get on vent and we could explain it there. It is all pretty simple.

I've joined up to the hamachi server, but I'm having trouble joining in Q2. Not that I really know how.
"go to multiplayer, then join network and there should be an address book option and you should put the ip you see next to tag into that address book and then just refresh server list"
