"But Bej," you say, barely dribbling the words out around your Big Macs and tub of fries and your own stumpy fingers, "Who is Tom Waits? Why should I care about this?"
Well, you drooling assholes, Tom Waits is the finest recording artist still working in our time, possibly ever. You should care because it might just elevate you above the shambling masses that makeup your friends and neighbours. You should care because this is as awesome an occurance as it is rare. You should care because it will make you a better person.
Dates have not, to my knowledge, been announced yet. Personally I will travel anywhere in North America, and maybe all the way to Europe to see this as many times as my money situation will allow.
Discuss how awesome this is, and how far you're willing to go to see it.
UPDATE***Official announcement. Everyone head south.
Glitter and Doom Tour is an awesome name for a tour, by the way.

this is going to be the best summer ever.
I ain't gonna let a brother miss this shit.
Maybe there will be a show near you, Rank...
Apparently it's a tour of the US and Europeland... so maybe he will.
We'll figure something out.
I mean, I know people like him, I just don't know what his fan base is.
If it gets too insane, pm me and I will totally help out.
Most shows I've been to in my life were like $5 or $10 at the door. Shit like Gogol Bordello or Tom Waits is fancy like to me.
Though, I did once fly to England just to catch a concert.
I'm thinking tickets will be in the 35-50 range.
I just hope he plays smallish venues. I hate arena shows, and probably wouldn't go if that's what he plays.
He doesn't seem like an arena type of guy though.
the man is a fucking legend
his influence extends far beyond standard genre demographics, and he tours and makes public appearances so rarely that I expect there to be an astounding response to this tour. Everyone from high-brow jazz aficionados to mohawked gutter punks listen to tom waits.
he doesn't tour much, and he probably will play smaller, more intimate venues which both typically mean higher ticket prices
just because many of you aren't familiar with his work doesn't change the fact that he is a legend and his fans (including me) absolutely fucking love the dude
so yeah, I'm betting the tickets will probably be at least $60 US at most venues
i'll just assume he'll come to new york
i'll go with my dad
I love talking about Billy Bragg's shows.
for chrissakes
do you want to know the truth of it?
I don't have a husband
he don't play the trombone
and I need to borrow money
to pay this lawyer
and Charley, hey
I'll be eligible for parole
come valentines day
Big Mouth Billy Bass.
hahahaha take him to the river!
When the thunder storms start increasing over the southeast
and south central portions of my apartment, I get upset
And a line of thunderstorms was developing in the early morning hours
Ahead of a slow moving coldfront, cold blooded
With, with tornado watches issued shortly before noon Sunday
For the areas including the western region of my mental health
And the northern portions of my ability to deal rationally
With my disconcerted precarious emotional situation
the live version of that is one of my favourite things ever
I'd have to say he must of weighed 210
the way he stuck out a big hand and
said with a grin "Big Joe's the name
and this here rig's called Phantom 309"
