To provide a little more explanation: I had to busily rewrite a game I created awhile ago in order to run it at a club meeting last night. In addition, I've gotten two hours of sleep so far because I've been rushing to finish my resume so I can bring it with me to a Job Fair at UCLA.
However, as I promised, the game will start tonight. Come hell or high water.

The Symbol of Torment that is my avatar doesn't like being edited in Paint, the invisible background turns neon green. So no monocle for me unless some enterprising individual with something other than Paint can fix me up. Or if someone knows Paint better than I and can keep the background invisible. I would be forever indebted to such a highly skilled individual*.

Others are superhuman beings with magical powers. Each Other has unique powers, like shapeshifting or divination or super-strength or super-reflexes. They can all also see into other planes of existence, but some to a greater extent than others (npi).
I don't think this is a spoiler, but:
they're also vampires, in that they can draw sustenance from blood. The Dark Others indulge in this more often than the Light Others, though it is usually forbidden by the laws of the Others to drink human blood.

Actually, Vampires are a specific type of Dark Others, different from the usual Dark Others in that they can forcibly embrace other people to become vampires, and don't come into it naturally(like most human Others do, by entering the Twilight by accident,) which therefore predetermines their powers.
The movie of course is probably where you got this blatant misconception from, thereby making me want to watch it even less.
Generally Others are like mages and such. A little bit of foresight, the ability to enter the twilight, some magic finger-wiggling spells... nifty stuff. Of course, each Other develops their powers in their own, unique way(unless they're fixed into a certain power scheme like the Vampires are)
