My favorites:
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the original and Renegade Squadron)
Star Wars Lethal Alliance
Silent Hill Origins
Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony
Killzone Liberation
Wipeout (Pure or Pulse)
Loco Rocco
Coded Arms Contagion
God of War (only played a little of it, but it's pretty good)
Disgaea
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Parappa the Rapper
Patapon ($20, and an amazing game)
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Acid 2
Dungeon Explorer
Killzone Liberation
Jeanne D'arc
LocoRoco
Dungeon Siege
Gitaroo Man Lives
Burnout Legends (probably the only game I have that I wouldn't suggest; it's fun but very dated)
I never played part 2, but the first title is nearly worth the price of the PSP alone.

are there any decent coop games? Besides MHF2, because I've pretty much played that game into the floor. (300+ hrs). I know a lot of PSP games have vs mode, but I really want to play something coop.

I think you can do co-op on Killzone, there's a demo of the game up on the Playstation store if you want an idea of what it's like
Dungeon Explorer also has co-op, but that game isn't for everyone (I love it, though)
I never played part 2, but the first title is nearly worth the price of the PSP alone.
This too, Lumines is amazing
Lumines 2 is also worth a look because it has variable difficulty (different sizes of boards) and you can create your own playlists of your favorite levels to loop endlessly. And yes, both are completely jawsome.
The games I'm loving right now are those two, Crisis Core (excellent even beyond its FF7-nostalgia weight), Patapon, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, DJ Max Portable 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (the retranslation makes it sing). I'd also seriously consider hooking it up to your PC and checking out the PC Playstation Store, which has Echochrome, Beats, Flow and a handful of PS1 classics like Symphony of the Night and the original Wild Arms.

Yeah, I got Wild Arms from the store.. such a good game. That intro alone is worth it!
Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of time to play it because I've got a DS as well as a Wii.

Right. I went through about 3 or 4 screen protectors that all claimed they were for the PSP Slim, but none ever fitted right, either being too large or too small.
Hey guys, I just noticed this thread. Anyway, I keep a running txt file for game recommendations for each of the consoles/handhelds, for occasions just like this; so now I can copy and paste the file here and save myself and everyone else a lot of time:
PSP Recommendations:
* God of War: Chains of Olympus - a virtually PS2-quality iteration of God of War; best third person action game on the PSP
* Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops - this is a stealth action game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and it contains all the same great gameplay from the series you'd hope for. Story is a sequel to MGS3.
* Lumines - very addicting puzzle game that combines music and psychadelic graphics with puzzle gameplay
* Wipeout: Pulse - futuristic, high speed, arcade-style racing game
* Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions - it's a fantastic port of the first FFT with nice, stylistic newly created cutscenes
* Final Fantasy VII : Crisis Core - sort of a side-story type game in the Final Fantasy 7 universe, it's considered one of the best RPGs on the PSP
* Patapon - it's a hybrid of a music/rhythm game and an action/strategy game
* Killzone: Liberation - a great, action-packed, top-down third person shooter that requires both shooting as well as strategic and command (over team) skills
* Daxter - a side story of the PS2 Jak & Daxter games, this is a really good platforming/adventure game with the same quality of gameplay and humor and style of the PS2 jak games
* Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters - a side story of the PS2 Ratchet & Clank games, this is a really good action-shooting/platformer game with the same gun-toting/upgrading gameplay and humor and style of the PS2 ratchet games
* LocoRoco - LocoRoco is an innovative 2D platform/action game, this is a unique adventure game that involves tilting the levels to guide the characters through varying crazy worlds
* Mega Man Powered Up - excellent, expanded remake of MegaMan1 with a bunch of cool extra stuff
* Mega Man Maverick Hunter X - extremely good remake of MegaMan X1 with some extra stuff
* Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles - excellent remake of one of the best 16-bit Castlevanias, Rondo of Blood, but also includes Symphony of the Night as an unlockable
* Guilty Gear Judgment - basically Guilty Gear X2 #R, but portable. 'Nuff said.
* Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories - The original storyline and all new missions take place in Liberty City, featuring the interactive, open environment
* Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories -Vice City, 1984. Topping "Liberty City Stories" with a GTA sporting as many thrills, action and now-famous witty dialogue as the series has ever seen.
* Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness - It is everything a SRPG should be, filled to the brim with a staggering amount of gameplay, a great story with absolutely insane characters, killer gameplay that all SRPGs would do well to copy, and with the PSP version, runs, looks and plays better than the original version.
* Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror - One of the best third person shooters on the PSP, it not only looks great and control extremely well, it also has unique and exciting third person shooter gameplay. Everything a player could want in a game: the story mode is of the perfect length and difficulty, the game is extremely replayable, and the multiplayer offering is both fun and robust. And, arguably most importantly, there are negligible loading times.
* Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow: Sequel to the fantastic Dark Mirror, it's more of the same but with a lot of refinements. Both are great games.
* Exit - Exit's gameplay - you're a slick wannabe superhero rescuing innocents from dangerous situations - is deceptively simple in that it has a relatively low learning curve, but once you get further into it, it proves to be far from simple. A perfect fit for the PSP -- creative, stylish, and easily broken into the bite-sized chunks that work so well when gaming on the go.
* Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max - An excellent port of the arcade Street Fighter Alpha 3. Classic 2D fighter.
* Metal Gear Ac!d 2 - Whereas Metal Gear Acid faltered slightly in its attempt to branch the MGS franchise out into a bold new direction, Acid 2 absolutely nails the concept with engaging turn-based strategy card gameplay, a refined interface, quicker pacing, stylized graphics and an abundance of replay value, among other noteworthy attributes.
* Echochrome - Creative puzzle game with gameplay based on optical illusions, players must utilize five simple laws of perspective to join walkways, hide dangers, and create new paths to reach the "echos," or shadow guides. Create & share your own levels, too.
* Jeanne d'Arc - Jeanne d'Arc is one of the best tactical RPG on the PSP. The amount of skill customization and various character types with their own weapon types and skills is amazing as is the sheer level of detail in ever facet of the presentation. Great blend and refinement of tactical RPG gameplay, and unique story based on a fictionalization of the 100 Years' War.
Good compilation games:
* Sega Genesis Collection (also on PS2) - ton of classic Sega Genesis games, portable, easily mid-game saving
* Metal Slug Anthology (also on PS2 and Wii) - compilation of 7 metal slug games; classic arcade action
* Gradius Collection - collection of some older yet still classic Gradius shoot-em-ups (shmups)
* Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded (also on PS2) - collection of a bunch of truly classic and addicting Capcom arcade games

Did you find one that actually fits?
I'd like to know this too. Any good screen protectors for the PSP Slim out there?

I've already got scratches from just wiping the screen. I'm trying to avoid any more until I can get a protector on the thing, so it goes unplayed until then.

I'd recommend not wiping the screen with sandpaper.

I typically use my t-shirt or a microfiber cloth. Both scratch it.
Its very easy to replace the front plate of your psp. Just need the right size phillips and willingness to void the warranty. Once I realized this I was no longer paranoid about scratching the screen. (But I still put it in a pouch so I don't have to change it every month)
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Well, I mean, I use a Playgear, but at the slightest hint of dust or fingerprint I'm quick to want to wipe it clean.
Sony sells replacement fronts?
...oh...voiding warranty. Yeah, I'd rather not do that.
I don't even remember the brand of screen protector I'm using on the Slim, but it fits great and works just fine. It was a third-party generic too, not even Hori; I just went with whatever was cheapest at Best Buy, IIRC. And honestly even if you have dust on the screen you never really see it when the screen is on, unless the sheer OCD of knowing it's there is preventing you from actually playing.
I've had pretty good luck with keeping my PSPs (an original and slim) in the neoprene sleeve the first one came with whenever I'm transporting either of them around.
I do need to add a protective screen to the slim as that's worked out well on my original model.

Well for my original-style PSP I Just picked up some random one, I believe it was a brand called Intec, though I honestly forget. It worked great, looks great, and fit great.
And when I upgraded to the Slim I figured I would just get the same thing.
Nope, too big. I've since tried 2 or 3 others, in addition the the "invisble shield" brand. None seem to work well. The invisble shield is great I bet, but I can never get it on straight or well, so I pretty much ruined it before I even got it working well. And fuck having to pay like 3 dollars every time I need to get a new one.

Why not get one of those "universal kits" that allow you to cut out the screen to the size you need?
I used one of those for the display on my PDA phone and it works pretty well (the sheet is setup in a grid so you can be pretty accurate with your cutting). It also comes with several large sheets so you can use it for multiple items.

Somewhat relevant question regarding PlayStation games on the PSP
so like, when I buy a PSP (soon), I'll be wanting Crash Team Racing on it for sure. Do I need a PS3 for this, or is there a possibility to get PS1 games on a PSP without the FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS?
I ask because wtf I don't want a PS3.
Edit: One more question: Import games work on PSPs, right? It's region-free for games?

You can buy some PS1 games via the Playstation Store, but I'm not sure if CTR is available

I checked the EU Playstation Store, CTR's available there but not in the US. The only problem is the PS3 issue--whether or not I need one to play CTR on my future PSP. Let's face it, CTR is hands down the best kart racing game ever conceived by man and I must have it one way or another.
That's why I ask about import games, too--since I live here, I'll be wanting to play US games when they release stateside rather than have to wait for the eons it takes for the damn things to pass the intellectual customs barrier that seems to have been erected.
I was also thinking of getting a PSP. I am going to go for Amazon, because that is the only place where I can find Lumines. Newegg and Gamestop don't have it on their online stores any more.
Anything that is a MUST GET like, perifieral for the PSP. I only need this one game for now because I have a few on my PS3 that are PSP compatable, so I can turn on my PSP from school, and play me some Monsters.
I really want to pick up a psp again this weekend as I traded mine in when it went unplayed for 2 months. In june however, the God of War bundle is coming out, 200 bucks for a red slim, God of War, Superbad umd, and a voucher for Syphon Filter (erm, ok).
Lots of games I'm interested in trying out, Mega Man powered up, the castlevania remake/sotn, FF Tactics, Jeanne D'arc. Oh and the Power Stone collection. By Xena's Swollen Teats I will own it this time around.
I had both Lumines games, I have to say I didnt like the second one. The music was just better in the first one for me. With Puzzle Quest being prettier than the DS version, I think thats gonna be my puzzler of choice though.
I had the capcom classics compilation, but the loading times on it borded on x-men legends 2 levels of unplayability. Is that the case with the other compilations does anyone know?

You can get PSP games through the PC version of the Playstation Store. You just need to get the Playstation Store downloader thingy. I think it's only available on Windows though(their downloader thingy).
And so far all PSP UMD games are region free. I think the UMD movies are region locked, but I don't think anyone makes those anymore(and I'm pretty sure nobody bought any).
Man, I really want to get a psp slim but I don't know if it's worth it, I bought one a while ago but returned it cause I got a DS for free. I really want a PSP though seems like I would enjoy it more and the game liabrary, I'm hesistant though as money is short with the shit load of games coming out this year and school and I'm worried they may bring something else out!
Picked up a black slim with Disgaea and Puzzle Quest today. So worth it. Solves all my gripes about the DS version of PQ: I no longer waste moves do to stylus slippage or it thinking I'm sliding the tiny symbol in a diff direction, its easier to tell green and yellow symbols apart (perhaps I am slightly colorblind) and its just as pretty as the PC demo they released a while back. I even had a 1 gig memory stick hiding in my desk.
Best Buy had a Pelican screen protector for $5 (the only one I've even seen made for the slim so far), it is every bit as good as the Hori ones I use on my DS, if anything it was easier to put on, but that might just be having a ginormous screen to work with.
I wanted to wait for the red god of war pack, but the black one I found was used and in good condition, so I saved myself some money and wont have to wait a month.
I have an original PSP that I got during the value pack days, which comes with a small padded sleeve. Keeps my PSP flawless - even after 3 years, it doesn't have a single scratch on the screen. And I take it with me around Austin quite a bit, and use it regularly.

Seriously. These skins are excellent, cheap, and fairly easy to apply. Plus they cover the entire PSP so you don't have to worry about fingerprints.
Go buy one.

It also comes with several large sheets so you can use it for multiple items.

so like, when I buy a PSP (soon), I'll be wanting Crash Team Racing on it for sure.
That's why I ask about import games, too--since I live here, I'll be wanting to play US games when they release stateside rather than have to wait for the eons it takes for the damn things to pass the intellectual customs barrier that seems to have been erected.
Anything that is a MUST GET like, perifieral for the PSP. I only need this one game for now because I have a few on my PS3 that are PSP compatable, so I can turn on my PSP from school, and play me some Monsters.
2. Buy a PSP skin there.
3. ???
4. Profit!
Seriously. These skins are excellent, cheap, and fairly easy to apply. Plus they cover the entire PSP so you don't have to worry about fingerprints.
Go buy one.
Look at this shit!
