    1. Go to http://www.bestskinsever.com.
    2. Buy a PSP skin there.
    3. ???
    4. Profit!

Seriously. These skins are excellent, cheap, and fairly easy to apply. Plus they cover the entire PSP so you don't have to worry about fingerprints.

    Go buy one.

...the hell? $10 is cheap? You fuck up the application and you may as well have burned a $10 bill. (Which is what happened with the invisbleshield) Sigh.

And if you do happen to fuck up the application of one of these skins, you probably have no business even using a PSP.

Those gelaskins look pretty cool though. I'm going to have to browse through their wares.

I just got a PSP for the wife. How big are some of the save games for it? I just got a 1GB memory card, is this sufficient?

How long does the battery life last?

Heh. My brother just gave me his PSP, says he doesn't much use it, so I could have it. Man, I truly have an awesome brother.

First on my list.. I think... will be Maverick Hunter X or Castlevania.

The problem is that I can't stand RPGs. I just can't play them. I don't like them, I'm no good at them.. etc. etc.

But for anyone interested in RPGs, indeed, I hear Crisis Core is the best option on the PSP. :P

Actually my greatest desire is for the Metal Gear Solid game. But right now I only have time for really good pick up and play games.. and I have some strange need to get the two games I mentioned. Could also get Loco Roco I think.

The games like GOW:COO and Syphon Filter and Liberation, these are games I want a lot, but they'll have to wait until I have more time to play..

Thread fails to mention Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.

Well, if you don't like PS1-era RPGs, it's no good. If you do, it's awesome. Only game with valkyries that are actual valkyries, i.e., most of your characters are dead.

I think this might be the only series from tri-Ace that I've ever really liked. Most of their real-time combat systems are frustrating and stupid, but somehow this one turned out great. Unfortunately the game predates the use of actual good voice actors on English localizations, so much of the voice work is cringe-inducing.

Too bad there isn't a demo or anything....It plays more like an action game than an RPG. If you get the chance to try it.....try it :P

Next on my list is Disgaea....wait, that's an RPG..

Well, I can tell you what NOT to get: Star Wars Battlefront 1 or 2. YEESH. Daxter is very good, same with Ratchet & Clank. But yeah, Castlevania.

Slash... How did you like Kingdom Hearts? Crisis Core feels a lot like that.

e: with less jumping, and more awesome... and better music... Well, it really only controls like Kingdom Hearts, but everything else is better.

    re: shooter mcgavin

Oh yeah, Daxter came with the PSP (in the box). Ratchet I want as well, but I've played through all 4 console games, and I feel like I can put Size Matters off on a purchase for a while. Castlevania I want because I've never had the honor of playing Rondo of Blood, and nobody can argue with portable SOTN. The MMX game I want because it'll be good pick up/play and I'm a huge MMX fan, and the remake looks to be brilliant.

But really, my personal reason for wanting a PSP more than anything else is the Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, since I understand it to be basically a proper MGS game that actually matters to the plotline and has traditional MGS gameplay..

I don't like GTA, so that and the RPGs are out. I also want the action games, but those I can hold off on... simply due to lack of time, and the fact that I haven't gotten to my backlog including some games like God of War II. Killzone Liberation I'd probably sooner get than Syphone Filter...

    re: urahonky

I never played Kingdom Hearts.. never had much interest in it, and being an RPG, can't say I gave it much of a chance. I've tried numerous JRPGs and western RPGs and action RPGs in the past.. never clicks with me for whatever reason. Only a few have I had the desire to see all the way through; and those two are Chrono trigger and Illusion of Gaia. I got through Super Paper Mario though, if that counts. edit: oh and Mario RPG on the SNES. I tried to play through FF7 and FF8, couldn't get through them.

SNK Arcade Collection Vol. 1 isn't bad if you're a fan of the early Neo Geo games and don't have access to other ways to play these games on the PSP. I bought it a few weeks back and have been playing it over Wipeout Pulse and FF Tactics, though that may say more about me than it does the game itself.

Yeah I'm all about the retro collections. I love 'em. Personally, I already have them for the PS2, but I'd like to get the portable iterations of them eventually.

The Megaman games, though, like MHX and the Megaman Powered Up or whatever, those I'll definitely want to get. MHX, first, though.

Hey Slash, I don't know if you've tried it already, but you might like Jeanne D'arc, even though you don't like those sorts of games. I don't like turn-based or tactics games. I hate them actually, but something about that game just worked. Sort of the same thing happened to me with Fallout. I thought, "Argh, turned-based. Fuck ...and this game looked good." 5 minutes later and I noticed it was more like 45 hours later.

Also, I didn't notice it mentioned, but Tomb Raider: Anniversary is not too bad. Legend is shit, though. Avoid it.
It's been mentioned but, again, Metal Slug Anthology definately.
Also mentioned, Silent Hill: Origins, but only if you haven't played the originals, it'll bore you if you have. At least that's what I found.

Edit: As has been noted, the screen seems to scratch stupidly easy. Every time I clean it, it gets a new scratch. I'm not too bothered, because it's hard to see them while playing, but if that sort of thing bugs you, definately get a cover. I thought my PSP's case would protect it, turns out it aggravates the issue.

I just got the Sega Genesis Collection yesterday and the game blows my fucking socks off. Having this in a portable format is legendary:

    • Sonic 1 and 2
    • Ristar
    • Golden Axe 1, 2 and 3
    • Phantasy Star 2, 3, and 4
    • Comix Zone
    • Columns
    • Shadow Dancer and Shinobi 2
    • Alex Kidd
    • Sword of Vermilion
    • Vectorman 1 and 2
    • Super Thunder Blade
    • Kid Chameleon
    • Flicky
    • Bonanza Bros.
    • Gain Ground
    • Some other stuff
    • Unlockable videos, interviews, artwork and trivia

Slash, you might actually enjoy Crisis Core on the Hard mode, as it ends up being a pretty challenging action-RPG, though the FF7 fanservice will be completely lost on you and the story will be asinine. Oh, and make sure that you buy Portable Ops and NOT Portable Ops Plus, because "Plus" is the multiplayer-only title.

I didn't see anyone answer this: a 1GB stick will be plenty for savegames. It varies, but I think most saves are like 50 to 100 KB or so. And the battery life on the Slim is about 5-6 hours, maybe? I don't really know, but keeping the screen dimmer and using headphones instead of the speaker will help extend battery life.

If you get a 4Gig card or higher I recommend installing custom firmware on your psp. The ability to take your umds and turn them into isos to play from the memory stick is great. You get easy access to the games you are currently playing without the fear of losing or damaging the umds, plus you increase the battery life and have shorter load times.

For example I have Crisis Core in my umd drive and Liberty City Stories, Crush and MegaMan Powered up on the stick. (Also have many mp3s and some TV shows I converted from the Tivo)

(You can even compress the isos which works great in most cases, but doesn't work well for games that do lots of streaming like GTA.)

I love the damn thing, I kinda picked it up on whim back in January to mess around with media and remote play and have been surprised by the games for it. (I think I partially believed all the internet fud.) And yes get MGS: PO its on my top 5 portable games of all time. (At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but once I got used to the controls it became very addicting)

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Crisis Core is f-ing awesome. Hands down one of the best looking games on the system, and although you haven't played FFVII you'll be fine, and it might make you a fan.

Just be forewarned that PO Plus is the multiplayer-only title—it doesn't have the single-player campaign like the original Portable Ops.

Well I loved the original Portable Ops, but I'm not really sold playing it multiplayer since I'm guessing the scene is pretty dead now, however I heard that Plus had an "Infinity Mission" campaign mode where you can recruit different soldiers and stuff. I kinda dug the whole recruit an army thing of PO but I'm not sure if thats worth $10 which is why I'm asking.
