I have not played for a long time and dont really feel like reading the last 40 pages so i got a few questions. One im guessing the scorpion is not the best PVE pet anymore, so is thier a new leader or is it still personal preference between cat/ravager/other? And how is survial spec, in regaurds to more PVP. And any tips for raiding the small stuff Kara,ZA,grul and mag?

From what I've read, Ravagers are the highest DPS pets.

Yes but they are also the dumbest looking pets as well. Which is not worth a minute DPS upgrade, having a big slobbering spiky turd walking around next to me.

    So, guys, guys...

I'm looking at rolling a new hunter. I've got one at... 62? But it's a belf. What the fuck was I thinking rolling a belf?

I'm also thinking of going Alliance, but I'm not sure.

For PvP, though... whadya think's a better bet? Nelf, orc, or cow?

    I can't decide.

Also, I'm crying inside, because I have a cow druid, and I will never, ever get to look cool in my set armor, because cows just can't not look like total douchebags.

I couldn't decide this for you but I can say that Bloodfury and stun resists and increased pet damage synergises amazingly well with a BM spec'd hunter .

I use a bloodfury , abacus trinket , rapidfire, the beast within macro to violently explode people. It truly is an I win button in World PVP and BG's . In arena none of that shit is awesomesauce .

How do hunters do in arenas? I've heard surprisingly little. From what I've gathered, everyone sucks, except resto druids paired with MS warriors in 2v2. Beyond that, it seems to be one huge "my class is teh gimp" drone in every class forum.

If you go alliance dwarf would be the best PVP choice, just for stoneform to get out or rogues poisons. Plus they are better than Nelfs anyway. You ask yourself what the fuck were you thinking rolling a Belf.. same question goes with Nelfs.

I was thinking shadow meld, but I suppose that doesn't apply to the pet, too, so... yeah.

For PvP your best choices are:
    Dwarf
    Night Elf
    Any race that isn't Troll.

    Dwarves remove their poison.
Night Elves can Shadowmeld and Drink, which is insanely useful if you don't have a pet on you

    Taurens have war stomp
Orcs have stun resist (And bloodfury is sometimes useful)
BE have a very nice clutch silence

Shadow meld is absolutely amazing for arena. Free drinking/eating half way through a match? Yes please.

Hey guys, I just hit 60 earlier this week on my hunter. I've been farming unidentified plants(up to 199 now) on my main to send to the hunter to get CE rep to buy those arrows. Good plan? Any other tips for a newly outland'd hunter?

That'll work. You don't really need to worry about buying those arrows after 65, since I think the white ones end up being almost the same. I dunno, I just used white arrows up until that point

Aside from enjoying yourself, I'd start learning a shot rotation once you hit 61, since so many hunters have trouble with that.

    I send the pet>Hunter's Mark>Aimed Shot>then use my macro for Autoshot/Arcane shot.

That's cool until I get KC and steady shot, right?

Yeah, I'm grinding the rep since Wowwiki says that it's possible to get revered without a rep run.

CJ, there's no arcane shot in that rotation?

as far as i know, Arcane Shot uses too much mana for not enough damage when not Marksman.

Arcane is great though for when you've got some asshole mob who keeps casting HoT's or Buffs on himself. I use it alot for that. For example those mobs in Zangar, the big fuckers, cast HoT's on themselves all the live long day. When I'm taking two to three at a time, I'd rather sacrifice a bit of damage, to keep them from healing up.

Also removes frost armour and lightning shields etc from the caster mobs. And pisses people off in PVP, so that's fun too.

For raiding, arcane shot and multi-shot are effective for BM.

For grinding, you're going to go OOM because you won't have the mana, buffs, or potions to blow.

Of course it's useful for situational dispells

Heh, you should see what happens when you have that and Blood Fury as an orc. Add in maybe a Hourglass Proc and a shaman popping Bloodlust. It's obscene.

I don't know. I mean, I think at the time I quit I was sort of venturing into Kara and I did Gruul too before the guild I was in ate itself. But I was undergeared for Gruul, I think. I quit to work on my thesis but now I'm back to having a lot of free time and not a lot to do. Thus I'm back to WoW renewing my subscription.

I guess I just want to know my options, given my current gear, for working towards upgrades.

You'd probably want to hit up some heroics for upgrades and badge loot. Or maybe a few endgame instances for gear before that. I suggest checking out http://www.wow-loot.com/ and using the gear planner just to give you some ideas and options for upgrade paths.

You can work your way into a Kara, people won't be too happy, but if it's on farm then half the time they won't care.

You pretty much have to hit up 5-mans and heroics for gear, especially the greens and low level blues. I can't remember what's too great now, since it's been forever since I Looked at that gear (And I just went for 5/5 BL anyways. And I did get it!).

Though, I know you need a few things.

    Revered with Sha'tar belt
Hourglass from BM, and badge DPS trinket (Good luck with the hourglass)
Felstalker bracers should be good for you
For your chest I'd recommend Beast Lord, but in all honesty I don't remember the gear too well, so you can probably do better.
Cloak is ok, get the Badge one or the Drape of Dark Reavers off Aran (Ahahahahaha, never going to drop)
Shoulder is fine, but get green gems for it
Don't remember necks too well, I've had the Worgen Claw Necklace forever now

So, it's been a long time since I last played a hunter, but I don't recall ever having issues with my pet keeping up with me while I'm running.

Lately, it seems the thing is always lagging behind. Anyone else having that problem?

(and I'm not talking about the pathing bug where it starts walking when it attacks, I mean the thing just runs slow when it's trying to follow me)

How much latency do you average? On 56k my pet is always a good ways behind me because it has to wait for the server to tell it to move, so I can roughly gauge where the server thinks I am by my pet's position.

Yeah, my pet seems to be slow also, even with Aspect of the Pack up. Plus I have the other problem, where your pet slows to a prowl before attacking a mob.

Also, does anyone have any advice as to whether I should take Bloodseeker or Ice-Barbed Spear once I hit 51?

My latency is usually in the 50-150ms range, so it's not bad. Certainly not enough to cause the problem.

I've tried taming a few other pets as well; this seems to be a pet issue, not a specific pet issue.

What a pain in the ass.

I have no problems with my pets keeping up on my hunter or warlock. So, that's odd.

I used to when I could mount with them out, but not anymore. I still wish hunters at least could mount up with a pet, as if it lags behind it's still just an instant, manaless summon away. :\ It always looked so cool having my pet there beside me on my Kodo.

I'm not one of those unstable attention whores that need the e-reinforcement like over at the rogue thread but I can write the OP if no one cares or minds , if someone else wants to then pipe in here . Something better than the current OP "So if you have some hunter stuff post it here ...sigh I quit wow so my OP is shitty I'm fucking emo ....sigh "

If someone else wants to write it I can contribute , I'm not interested in credit or fame lol I just think our OP sucks ass and could be alot more interesting and informative
