I, too, have tried both Firefox and IE numerous times. I've completely cleared my cache, settings, saved passwords, cookies, etc... each time. I was not logged in when they flipped the switch on the server.
I just made a new account. It still will not let me log in!

I've tried IE7, Firefox, and Safari for Windows, all without luck. IE7 and Safari have no previous data for me. I've cleared the greenhouse cookies each time before restarting FF and still no dice. I can't "log out" because I am no longer logged in, and clicking the log in link on the forums home page takes me back to the front page.
Between the inability to buy the game, and the slow as fuck download speed, I gotta say, I don't understand why they couldn't just set something up with Steam, rather than using this other thing (is Greenhouse theirs, or what? Because so far, it kinda sucks)
Yup. I just rebooted, tried my old account and the new one I just made. Still no dice...
I'm guessing there is an issue with the authentication system. We are pounding it pretty hard. It does not recognize my attempts to use the password recovery system either.

yes greenhouse is thiers . . .
do you remember when steam first launched . . . it didn't work very well either . . .just be patient . .. they'll work out the kinks soon enough
Okay, one of our servers got foobared during the flip and the load balancers would remember who you were and kept trying to send you guys to the bad server. It will run slower right now as we are running on less machines but we will figure it out and get them all back up soon. Thanks for your patience.

You realise that using Steam is not free, and that any kind of monopoly is generally a bad thing?
But Steam IS free.... it just costs money to get games through it.
but thats better then live where it costs to get games and to use it.
and it's not a monopoly..... forget about Xfire? you know the one PS3 built their whole system on?
Still, considering the guys' affinity to VALVe (I mean they host the comic on steam even) you'd expect it to be on there.
Free for the developers. Valve takes a big cut and requires certain things to be done with games that go up on Steam. Xfire doesn't deliver games, Steam does. I don't even know what you're arguing at this point.

and for the users. You're forgetting that. the additional thing is it can be used as an in game IM system.
and sometimes i do it just to argue. sorry bout that.
no its not, but then again thats the same with any publisher. hell EA still does it to valve for doing crappy ports. (I'm looking at you PS3 Orange BOX)

Again, you're just being argumentative. My point was that Steam is not free for developers, so there is already incentive for a developer to selfpublish on their own platform, especially when they are only selling through digital distribution. Add in the additional hassle of having to comply with Valve's standards and testing, and it's not an attractive proposition for a developer that's planning on releasing an episode every four months.

I was on the forums when the switch happened. Now I can't log into those either. I'm about as logged out as one can get.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!

Why do you think the Guitar Hero Vs. Rock Band war isn't between Harmonix and Red Octane.... it's between EA and Activision.
Personally I love the idea of indy games, but the problem is its usually mainstream.
