Buff/Debuff Mechanics

Is there a limit on the number of negative effects a boss can have on them? Also: am I correct in that one of your characters can only have one buff active at any time?

    From what I've seen your character can only have one buff at a time.

    It's one buff/debuff per character/enemy.

    Yeah, like they said, it's a limit of one, which actually makes the system shine. It's the best item buff/debuff system in any RPG I've ever played.
