Sadly, I have no money for the trades yet, so I have to live with digital versions of them all. But i shall buy them all, oh yes, because I believe that good comics making should be rewarded.

Hmm, I've been thinking about getting a graphic novel. 400 pages for £15.50 of amazon (cheaper than forbidden planet - which you keep promoting at every turn, quiet suspiciously I may add.) I think I'm in. How many of the normal trade paper backs is that?
I think your just being paranoid.
I'm sure the people at Forbidden Planet would drop the price to a competetive rate if you showed them the Amazon price. After all they are reasonable people who run a very efficient enterprise, and their personal hygeine is of excellent standards.

Keep reading the thread and you'll see I basically said I was. To be honest, on line is easier for me anyway as I don't have time for the shops. But the it does mean I'm still waiting for it...

The best parts of Spiderman (teen hero starting out), mixed with the best parts of Claremont's X-Run (simmering long-term subplots, huge and great cast of supporting characters) mixed with some of the best parts of Superman and superheroes in general (superhero dealing with life and amazing powers among ordinary humans and fellow heroes).
Plus, it's got Kirkman's own fantastic sense of humor and dialogue over it all, and a dynamic, simple-yet-effective art style, with some of the best use of color in comics.
I just finished reading all of Invicible, and I loved the shit out of it. My question "Why" was more retorical than anything else. Its just so good it blows my mind.
Hey dudes, I saw a trade for Marvel Team-Up - Spider-man and Invincible.
It's written by Kirkman, so I'm confident in it, but I've been short on cash lately so anyone want to tell me if it's any good?
Well, that trade only has one issue in it dedicated to the Invincible/Spider-Man team-up, but the rest of it has the League of Losers arc, with such fan favorites as Gravity, Speedball, Darkhawk, Dagger, and Terror Inc starring in it. So yeah, it's awesome. Go buy it now.
Also, the newest trade of Invincible comes out this week. I am all sorts of pumped the fuck up for it.

I'm pretty sure the Charlie Brown kid shows up again.
But I might be just making things up.

Oh yeah. "I'm ho--I am not ready for this tonight."
This book is fanfuckingtastic. I'll definitely be ordering the current trades. Usually this forum overhypes things for me, but man, you guys didn't lie with this one.
Ok Jordyn you win. I should start a standing order with your comic book shop asking for "a copy of whatever the fuck Jordyn buys - minus the flash porn."
[spoiler:26f9d4de93]Keeping the flash porn[/spoiler:26f9d4de93]
[spoiler:2157083d3f]It went from funny to depressing to sad to happy to omg. Probably the best series I've read.[/spoiler:2157083d3f]
I'm going to buy both Ultimate Collections and the new trade. And whatever issues I can get a hand on, just to throw my support their way.
Me too, It's a bit weird to have read in sink with a stranger on the web.
So:
[spoiler:2157083d3f]I knew the twist in a roundabout way - but that was awesome.
But - Fucking hell - so much blood.
I also totally get how well Jordyn was in describing it without giving anything away. Clever Bitch.
[/spoiler:2157083d3f]
I'm ordering The second volume which takes me up to issue 24 - but then I guess I will have a year wait for the third - craps. I think there up to 35 overall.
[spoiler:a82d6b9901]I knew the twist in a roundabout way - but that was awesome.[/spoiler:a82d6b9901]
[spoiler:a82d6b9901]I'd read a spoiler that Omni-Man killed the Guardians, but I wasn't expecting him to beat the shit out of his son.[/spoiler:a82d6b9901]
One question I had. . . is the Ultimate Collection worth the investment, or should I just stick to my TPBs?
Well that depends on how much dough you have. It's nice and big - and awesome quality - but it is just a collection of however many trades had the first 13 episodes in (plus the extras from the trades).
I wouldn't bother (but now I've started I'm gona keep my collection in this form - despite the wait) - but I'm cheap so I would rather have new comics than different versions of the same ones.

You could always sell your tba's towards it.
I might chuck up some photos later if your lucky.
That was kind of what I was expecting. In that case, then, I think I'll stick with the TPBs, but only because I'm able to get the issues quicker than if I were to wait for the Ultimate Collection each time. Although, I'm tempted. . . if you decide to issue out a few images, then I'd love to see the difference. Thanks.

I think my favorite part of Invincible is that it doesn't even really deal with bad guys. It just focuses on the characters.
That said, [spoiler:6c0d7f5864]Mark's fight with his dad was wicked.[/spoiler:6c0d7f5864]
All right, nice. I may consider it, Lave, but I may just stick with what I've got. I'm cheap like that. Or maybe I'll sell them like you said to put towards that. . . but probably not. We'll see.

You can get the Ultimate Collections for around $22 USD on Amazon (last I checked). You should be able to easily make that much off of selling the individual TPBs.
So anyhow - I'm geeking up my girlfriend - first buy selling her my old nintendo DS (I normally role G&T), which she loves. And I'm thinking I may lend her invincible. The fact that Ultimate Collection 2 is introduced by the co-creator of Lost should get her interested at least.
Or would you recommend anything else? What with your vagina and all? The fact that invincible is a self-contained universe and needs no priors (except for the in-jokes) means I think she may dig it...
I finally caved and at an Airport I was at yesterday during a 2 hour lay-over I bought the Invincible Ultimate Collection Vol 1(The bookstore had like 7 copies  ) It. is. beautiful. I must find Vol. 2 post-haste.
Also I loved the Star Trek:TNG cameo.

Sweet - comics are made for travelling.
I spent 6 hours alone walking around SFO from 2 till 8am - it was the most painful time of my life. And it was between two 10 hour journeys. erg.
I would have killed for a comic shop - but San Fransico doesn't understand what the fuck a 24 hour airport entails and closed all it's fucking shops.
If you want your girlfriend to start reading Invincible, definitely try to have her read the first Ultimate edition first. It just contains some really important story stuff, and is sure to get her hooked anyway.
As for other comics, might I suggest Y: The Last Man? We got Fram's sister reading it and now she wants all the trades.
If you want to get her into more DC stuff, I could help with that too.

That's an immediate win on every level.
(That's not a spoiler in any real sense - but if Keith's reading it tonight he can see if he notices them first.)
And in the first issue they reference [spoiler:f76b5dbec2]Ferris Bueller's Day Off[/spoiler:f76b5dbec2]
That's like my two favourite things from my youth ever. Oh God Yes.

I just finished Issue 7. Oh god this story's so good.
[spoiler:e0a0e4fa0f]I wasn't keen on the Guardians being blatant Justice League rip-offs, but they got killed.
Also, the "Aquaman" scene was lol funny.[/spoiler:e0a0e4fa0f]
I also enjoy reading clothing. "Magnum Pi" for the win.
More references I've found:
Issue 2: Charlie Brown and a kid with a Red Son Superman shirt.
i'm in love with Invincible just because I love pop culture.
But I might be just making things up.

For me it was Gaiman's Sandman... unless you want to count Judge Dredd, but in england that's pretty much required reading for all kids.
