Scratches (PC game) not running in full-screen

I got Scratches: Director's Cut at Target recently because hey it was cheap and an adventure game that got good reviews, but I installed it and though it worked fine the first time I played it, every subsequent time I've tried to run it, I get an error that says "Could not switch to fullscreen mode" and then the game starts up on the screen only taking up 1024x678 of my screen. I emailed their support like a week ago, but I haven't heard anything, and their 'support' page has exactly three problems it addresses, none of which are for this game. I don't suppose any of you guys have a clue how to get this game to run properly for me, because I've just about had it with Got Game in general.
