[WoW] Raid Thread - Naxxramas? Didn't we do this 2 years ago?

So, WLK is ages away, new games and burnout are drawing away from your standard crew, and your pool of recruits has either shrunk to 0, or seems to be filled with people who probably have trouble getting dressed each morning without strangling themselves.

Welcome to Raiding!

So, anyone else finding more and more people lapsing into pre-expansion malaise before we have anything but scraps of info?

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Someone reads other threads. We're onto you.

Here's hoping, after a brilliant impromptu SSC run early this week that our progression weekend this Friday/Saturday actually goes 5/6. All my upgrades drop off Vashj/Kael :(

I wish more of our raid's DPS were taking breaks. Took one myself, and now I don't have a spot anymore, and I can't decide if I want to try and move on to greener pastures (some options seem to exist) or sit on the WL forever.

I get shit for being late (Some shit), and leaving early (More than being late), even though I post about both, and at the start of the raid say "I have to leave when my friend calls me."(Though, I did leave very suddenly when I left early, but I got called when my friend arrived, not when he was leaving his home).

Sure, I won't leave mid-boss, but I'm not going to stick around for another attempt and make someone wait for me if we're running back.

Yeah, they draw away right after a new game comes out, but the question is how many of 'em come back eventually over time? Besides the wave of people who return at the point an expansion goes on sale.

oddly my guild is actually seeing some progress with the expansion drawing near. We were limited to just 10 mans before but are slowly growing on having Gruul and Mag on farm with the help of another guild which gives me hope that I'll see SSC and more. Though sadly I'm going to have to take a break for a bit due to band recording/gigs taking up time and priority over WoW for June.

I play an alliance warlock. Basically I took a break for a few months because of work when we were 4/9, 5/5; the raid's working on brutallus now. I understand the raid goes on and all that, and I wasn't expecting to just have the red carpet rolled out for me. It does sting, though, when the raid needs warlocks, but decides they'd rather shake up the whole ranged DPS and farm T6 for some people's alts than give me any kind of face time at all.

Does tanking Mother Shahraz bother anyone else as much as it does me? She hits about as hard as Archimonde (perhaps even faster), keeps cleaving me for a bunch o hurt, AND my healers are sorely weakened from having to wear SR gear. Makes me spike a looot D:

I wish. Even though our OTs don't wear any SR either, they use the excuse that I'm a recent transfer and don't have my SR gear yet to keep me on MT duty.

Not that it's HARD, really--pres mangel and lassereight and mall lots--just dang is it spiky

I'm not crazy about these fancy schmancy end game encounters that require protection paladins (or particularly very specific raid comp). Don't get me wrong, I loves me some prot pallies. They are good tanks. However. We carry exactly 0 of them in our roster, except for the one holy paladin who has the gear and will swap spec to cover off Felmyst skeletons and M'uru shadow blobs. Except the nights he isn't there. Then we rely on "The paladin reserves". By that, I mean that one of our warlocks (of which we only have three), swaps to playing his protection paladin to fill the void. This isn't totally bad. He has successfully gotten us through Felmyst kills before and he gives us face time on M'uru. But on M'uru, where his gear isn't as good (because it's an alt), and where we really need all 3 warlocks of the guild to be, well, on their warlocks, it is not so zesty.

We've been working on M'uru without the right class balance for I think around 3 nights now, and while I'm sure we've all gotten some good practice, it feels like we're getting to the point where it might be nice to have some real attempts. So here's fingers crossed that tonight we have our normal prot paladin, not to mention the 3 warlocks, 2-3 shadow priests, 3 other tanks, enhancement shaman, and the myriad of other needed people show up.

I love my current guild for this. Rather than have a hard raid start time, we use an attendance tracker that shows on each day when each raid member is expecting to be in game and at the zone line. You just make sure that your character's in that position, then you can goof off on alts or whatever. When the raid leader calls out that invites are starting, everyone swaps to mains and we fill up the raid and go. If invites are going to be significantly delayed beyond the normal start time (somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00) they let folks know when to come back. It's nice.

Some nights take a little longer than others because we're tweaking for a boss, but by and large it cuts down on the 'sit down and do nothing and wait' time.

Yeah I don't know why they're so bitchy about it. I mean we're all bitchy about people with spotty attendance and your whole "I don't have a home" thing has made your lifetime attendance look pretty bad, but still. You did post and mention that you'd be leaving early. When it's one of Bahl's buddies who wants to leave after an hour, it's no problem because hey they told him! Even though we might have had someone who could stay the whole night sitting out, it's fine, because they told him. Never mind him showing up late and his girlfriend leaving an hour or two early every night this week because she stays up all night playing and then is too tired for raids.  Yet last night he's bitching about why you weren't taken off the attendance for Sunday since you "left early."

I do not like the first boss of Sunwell. He makes me sad, as a Paladin healer. :(

Positive note is 45%ish on this first evening of serious learning. Can already see who is weak at "hai go into the portal NOW", and who is fairly bad at "this tank is up top, this tank is down below, where are you?"

We solved the people showing up whenever the hell they felt like issue with an on time dkp bonus. Like a big one. Like 1/2 of a raids worth. (25 for on-time vs 5 for farm bosses + 5 for end raid)

It's amazing how many fewer traffic, dinner, etc delays there were. We usually have around 35-40 people on at raid invite time now.

We used to have this one rogue who would always talk to one of the RLs with a bind, and then the RL would reply as normal not realizing this, so everyone in the channel would think he was crazy.

I'd be way too worried using binds to talk to specific people, like at some point I'm sure I'd hit the wrong key and make an ass of myself. Like the time my mom called while I was doing AB and I kept hitting push-to-talk anyway but didn't hear people yelling at me cos I'd muted Vent.

My old guild never really took advantage of the feature, but my new one does constantly, so while we're raiding (or doing something else that's a large group gathering) I'm constantly seeing people's icons lit up yellow. It's interesting to see what cliques are going on behind the scenes, even if you aren't part of the conversation... until one of them is retarded and hits their usual push to talk key.

So I pretty much got back into raiding. My first Kara run netted me most of the good feral druid stuff (including the hentai staff), and apart from that I have shoulders from Hyjal. Good enough for me tagging along to Black Temple as pure DPS while I work on getting more tank gear.
