The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
After watching that VBS TV documentary on Gaahl last year, I was curious on who had done some of the ambient music that was used in it. I found out, but in a roundabout way. I've just recently heard the album from Jotunspor, that group that has both King from Gorgoroth in it, plus another invidiual called Kvitrafn who has another group called Wardruna. So, I checked them out and - lo and behold - the music used in the documentary.
EDIT: I guess my thoughts on the CD are appropriate - Fucking Awesome. The capitals are intentional. It's very good and like nothing else I've ever heard.
New Balflare album for all you nihon no speedmetal fanatix!
Why do they put Ls in their names? Most Japanese people singing in English is hilarious anyway, but they aren't really doing themselves any favours there.
Ooh new thread. Neurotic Deathfest was a... blast. Too much awesome to delineate, but Cryptopsy didn't suck and Origin made me want to burn my instruments in shame.
Also, I've been listening to Anaphylactic Shock2000 Years for a while and loving it. Tragedy meets Darkthrone meets Entombed meets Pentagram.
I'm listening to this band Pin-Up Went Down, the album is called 2 Unlimited, whether to make fun of that old poppish group or not.
Anyway this stuff is like bizarre romantic pop/death/doom/thrash metal, with creepy goth girl vocals, brutal grunts, and lots of riffiness, little classical interludes, synths, it's quite impressive in its disorientation.
There are tracks named "Nearly Dead Bat Make-Up", "Yo-Yo Yes Then No", "Cadavre Exquis", and "Be My Idol Then My Fall".
And "Pussy Worship" is the best pseudo-metal-funk-goth-sex-Lords of Acid-smut song ever.

It looks like it's by one of the Carnival in Coal blokes
Yes please.
edit:
This is a surprisingly intriguing style, especially for all the questionable styles they brush the edges of.

I've been on a big post-metal/atmospheric sludge/whatever this stuff is called kick lately. Any recent/semi-recent stuff that's worth checking out? Or, if not, anyone have a recommendation that's closer to Rosetta's style than Isis's (not that Isis isn't awesome)? I don't know if post-metal is one of the genres you guys approve of anyway.

For the longest time, I've always assumed that "Telepath" was basically the only song worth listening to on the newest Pharaoh album, which is, as it turns out, a grave shame. "Rats and Rope" and "Red Honor", in particular, are pretty nifty tracks. I'm thinking of converting the last part of the latter song, from about 4:30 onward, into a new ringtone.
Also, is there an "extra small" size for clothing? Because I'm pretty sure this new Bolt Thrower shirt is about the right fit for, say, a dog.
Listening to the new Tyr right now. Doesn't seem that great to me. Then again, never been a huge Tyr fan to start with. We'll see how the rest of the album goes.

Give it to me, I'm skinny.
Also, I'm in agreement with autothrall about Pharaoh, that album is a very good listen from start to finish.

It's not an official shirt, I'm sure. The stuff on the front is already starting to flake off. Thankfully, I just bought the thing with a small bit of store credit that I "won" by doing, uhhh, something. I had no idea what was going on. Anyway, if I had paid cash or whatever, I'd be pissed instead of just grumpy. Every other bit of clothing that I grabbed is in perfect condition, though. Well, as perfect as it's ever going to be after I've gotten my hands on it.
Really solid trad. doom from Virginia with just a bit of stoner mixed in. A nice groove to the riffs, but not enough fuzz to sound like a dope band. Reminds me a lot of like what The Sword would be if they weren't boring and generic.

I'm probably super late.

Not really metal. Just Norwegian ambient folk, but it's exceptional stuff.

Anyways, I'm seeing Iron Fucking Maiden June 20th. This'll be my second time seeing them, the first being at Ozzfest.
And yes, I did leave that Ozzfest right after Maiden played.
At least Fear of God reminded me of Detente.

I heard the girl from Hellion will be singing for Detente on their reunion shows, anyone know if that's trve?

Challenge: Can anyone find a band that Frost has been involved in that isn't good?
What the fuck was that video, by the way?
Yes please.

Again:
I cannot tell the worlds apart
I do not heed the words they say
There is no dream of another day
I hear a silence, deafening
Drowning the deserts, that is my destiny
I no longer wish to see
The threads they've spun for me.
