Wal-Mart gives $100 for PS3, other Blu-ray players June 8-14
I live not far from a major international airport. A good friend of mine was flying in yesterday at the same time I was planning on driving out to our hometown, so we set out for the 75 minute drive together.
I had tried earlier in the week to pick up a PS3 at a Walmart five minutes from my office, with no success. So before we left, I started calling down the line of Walmarts on the route from my place to the old town, finally finding a place with the 40GB in stock.
So we left. And after missing an exit and hunting down the place, we found it (it was one of those weird Walmarts with a communist-looking red sign that wasn't very visible from the street.) This one didn't have a wall of TVs visible from the entryway but we eventually found the section in back, where I inquired once again about the 40, which was still there...
Except for one little problem. The merchandise lock-up? Broken. Problem with the key. Service guy coming in a couple days to fix it. THEY HAD A 40GIG PS3 RIGHT THERE, WHICH THEY COULD NOT SELL ME, BECAUSE IT WAS INEXPLICABLY AND INEXTRICABLY TRAPPED BEHIND A MOCKING WALL OF GLASS.
I politely kthxbai'd and we rolled out of there.
I hadn't checked locations or stock of any other Walmarts on the way, so I decided I would gamble on the one in our home town.

Did they actually show you someone try to open it or did they just tell you?
Because if someone just told you it's likely some Wal-Mart employee telling people that so he/she can have the bundle for themselves by the end of the day.
We sold one. The $298 Magnavox one. But we've been selling four PS3s per day, not counting the MGS4 bundle. I figure we'll sell more today or tomorrow, considering my area's notorious for waiting till the absolute last fucking minute to buy gifts.
