When will you invite Stephen Silver to PAX since he has such an impact on your art and perhaps life? There should be a panel dedicated to him in PAX.

"Of course my name's Rotwang! Why do you think I build a female android for?"

A cartoonist whose style has influenced Gabe's. He did the character models for stuff like Kim Possible, Danny Phantom, and Fairly Odd Parents.

That would be like inviting JRR Tolkien to a D&D convention. I think Stephen Silver would be quite uncomfortable surrounded by a zillion video gaming nerds who have no idea who he is; I would imagine a panel dedicated to him would be mostly empty, except for a few artists and some people who don't know who he is.

yeah, there would be about a hundred of us in the 2000-person hall, and every question would be either "Who are you, again?" or "can you draw kim possible naked?"

    Kinda uncomfortable.

I reiterate: it would be, for him, uncomfortable. Few of us would know who he is or care, because this is a gaming convention and he draws cartoon shows. It's fun for you or me to be surrounded by thousands of fat or skinny people carrying DS Lites and drinking Bawls, but for the average person it would be a little unnerving. Imagine you went to a fishing convention or something and everyone everywhere is talking about fishing or trying out fishing poles and some of them are dressed like fish and there are fish prizes and stuff, and you're there to talk about drawing cartoons. And about 200 people there, out of 17,000, know who you are.

I don't know what your problem is. I think that would be awesome.

No...it'd be like going to a fishing convention run by these two people that made a very popular fishing magazine based on the baiting techniques of one of them and you'd be there to talk about how you make your bait because you're the one that influenced their technique...

If you're going to switch one of them, you've got to switch the other a bit too.

Fine. It's like going to a fishing convention, run by two guys who do a TV show about fishing. And you taught one of the guys how to film a TV show. Nobody in the fishing convention except those who also happen to use cameras care about you except that you have a tenuous connection to one of the guys running the thing.

I think it would be more fun to invite Fred Savage, Luke Edwards, and Jenny Lewis. Jenny Lewis is in a pretty sweet band too and could also be a musical guest.

I don't think I understand this. Where do the fish come into play in your scenario?

I think they tried to invite Fred Savage one year, but I believe that he wants nothing to do with The Wizard ever again.

Yeah it's not like he has ever been to a comic con before. Trust me, cartoon nerds can be as nerdy any other nerd sub-culture.

I don't know about a Stephen Silver specific pannle, but I would love to see a cartoonist pannel. Something like Stephen Silver(Danny Phantom, Clerks the animated series, Kim Possible), Gabe(the site you are currently at), and Craig Mc'cracken.

Yeah I think Robert had mentioned that in '05, but I was thinking that with the increased power and will of the Penny-Arcade followers that we might win the day.

So, wait, as far as I understand...

We're going to get two guys who do this fishing show convention thing to talk about bait with Mr.Silver who will be hosting the D&D panels. And then Fred Savage, Luke Edwards, and Jenny Lewis are all going to go fishing to be filmed by the guy that showed the first two how to use cameras?

Where do Mike and Gerry fit in this? :?

Jerry, dude, Jerry. Not fucking Gerry.

    Someone shoot this guy. :P

All joking aside, I think it would be a bad idea.

They're bears. They have mad fishing skills. They're powerful. They can go anywhere they want to in the convention and nobody will stop them.

No, just jetskis, and maybe the odd printing press.
