My friend recently went full beard (similar to the one above, the BIG one only fair) and I have considered it. I have maintained a short goatee / stubble for years but HAVE to shave my neck as its like a brillo pad after a day and I can't get past that stage when it itches.
I love what Ewan McGreggor did on the Long Way Round, just never shaved and ended up with a real bastard of a beard including Yossamity Sam tache
I have beard! And grey hair! Have had both for many many years (20 or so).
This is one of them clickable thumbnail whoseamajits of what my webcam shows me. I need a haircut and beard trim. And to not look like me, but whatever:
The main reason I post is because I looked exactly, exactly like Feral's pic when I was 22 or so. I thought he might want to know what he's going to look like.
[tiny]Then he can try and do something about it.[/tiny]
my apologies for the lame question but is that natural gray (not dye)? i would love to have my hair go all gray, like tom cruise in collateral. i just hope my hair doesn't go all white before staying gray for like 10 or so years
by the way, this is me. i am turkish, hence my facial hair growth is prolly 2x you so don't get jealous. that's after 3 days, just starting to go for a jason statham look.

I got rid of the beard and cut my hair pretty much as soon as I got back. I've wanted to grow a goatee of some sort but as you can see my facial hair is pretty light, especially the stuff directly below my lip. So it just looks like fluff until I've had it for a good while. I would really like to have darker facial hair. I would grow it so hard.

It's natural. My wife keeps trying to get me to dye it black, but I think that's lame.
I enjoy being grey. Glasses, grey hair, a gut and a beard means I can just pull opinions out of my arse, prefix them with 'In my experience...' and people listen.
Some nice beards in here. I have had a goatee or beard since I was about 16/17. I shaved it for a period in college due to dying my hair and figuring a black/brown beard would not match blue hair. I was pretty much right with that. Biggest beard was for a play in highschool, it was a full mad Grizzley Adams style. I currently just have a goatee but I am kind of tempted to add chops or maybe a full chin strap thing.
I am also one of those people I shave for work at 7:15ish but 2 pm my face is scratchy and I have a 5 o'clock shadow. I got it from my dad who sports one of the greatest Grocho Marx mustaches known to man. Even though its mostly gray now, we have pictures of him in college with jet black hair, jet black 'stache and jet black eyebrows and round glasses. He was a Marx brother.
Also someone said the bald thing, I have huge widows peaks, been thinking of shaving the head but I cannot bring myself to do it.

Here's a question for all of you manly men in here. Is there a good way to straighten facial hair? I can grow my beard out pretty long and thick, but my problem is that after it gets past about 3/4" long, it starts to get curly and scruffy. Once it get out past 1.5", it's basically unmanageable because it's curling out all over the place. Is there any way to treat facial hair to make it straighten out and lay flat against my face? And for the record, my normal hair isn't curly, and my facial hair is totally straight for the most part. It only starts to curl as it grows longer.
I'm currently sporting the shaved head with a no-mustache goatee look, but I've pretty much run the gamut in terms of facial hair. I still like a full beard best, but I refuse to grow it out again until I can get my curly facial hair under control.

From my limited knowledge on facial hair I would suspect one goes about straightening it the same way one grooms and straightens his pubic hair.

I must admit, my knowledge in this area is quite limited. I would Google search for information about it, but I think I'm afraid of what I might find.

Take a brush, it can even be the same brush you use for your hair just make sure to clean it. Brush the beard, keep brushing. Do this every morning and eventually you'll get some semblance of straightness, overall though a longer beard is just going to get scruffy. I guess maybe shampooing it with some kind of wacky hair straightening stuff could work too but I'd personally not risk it.
I have a frankly embarrassing goatee thing with the child molester moustache. Basically the same facial hair I've had since I was 16 which after 12 years doesn't seem to have improved much. I'd actually like to shave it off some time just to see what it's like to be a smooth faced adult but my wife blackballs the suggestion every time I raise it. I just keep it trimmed really short now so it's more like a patch of stubble around my mouth than an actual beard.
The fucker is, my dad can grow a great beard and moustache so I should have the genes for it. I need to ask him how old he was when he was first able to grow a decent face of hair.

Let the hair grow, dye it and a bit of a beard trim Et VOILA!
Minus the synthetic attachments...maybe?
Anyways, I'm currently sporting a full beard, partially from laziness, partially because I like it. Keep it at a #2 length on the clippers. Had a short goatee for a while which was nice but full beard is easier to manage
The only problem I have is that the clippers I use for my beard are the ones I use for when I trim my hair so they're too big to take down the mustache
Beards are great man.
If I was a dude, I'd totally grow a walrus mustache and a full beard.
I just hate the time in between no beard, and beard.
You know, where you've got the furry patches and you look like a new homeless drunk more than anything.

My god you look exactly like Robert Downey Junior in Tropic Thunder. Well, when he is not in blackface.
It grows out long and black and thin only on my lower chin, with a weak mustache. There are other spots on my face where one or two hairs grow out just to taunt me, and that's it.
It's a real shame too, as my dad rocks a righteous mustache.
A few weeks ago one of my friends commented on my well-kept and full-figured goatee.
I made a point to tell him that I wasn't actually growing a goatee I had just neglected in shaving for a few weeks.
To which my friend responded, "Well you've got to at least shave the sides of your face."
I shook my head solemnly. His face dropped with a look of disappointment crossed with slight horror.
"What about your mustache?" He asked. I replied that my mustache, too, was far too thin to be noticeable from afar and was the result of lax shaving standards.
So I've got a pretty good goatee whenever there's a Limp Bizkit convention or something.

ori's modding is stupid and arbitrary and based on no actual rule system but rather wind patterns and astrology.
I'm 18 and just getting to the point where the small amount of facial hair I DO have is finally turning dark. I think I'm going to try to grow mutton chops.

it's sort of scratchy and I hate how itchy it got so I ended up shaving it. That and how much the boyfriend hated how abrasive it was.

I did sort of make that point (Rob Downey Jr.) with the Stark link earlier...but that's fine...ignore it

Is it true, what they say? :winky:
That he has to wear very large ski masks?
And now I am going to shave because I am now bored with it
