Clicking in the blue dot should take you to your last post.

Here is the idea.

I make a post in a thread and the thread is blue-dotted. I then pal around on another sub-forum for about a week and return to find the thread has grown substantially. I would like to pick up where I left off, but don't remember where I was in the thread when I last read it.

Wouldn't it be keen to link the blue dot to your last post. This will serve as not only a signal to show you've posted there but also a bookmark. Interesting idea?

That's what the little yellow note does, in the case you mentioned.

After this post, I probably won't look at the Circus again for a while. When I do, I just click the little yellow note which takes me to first post after my last visit, which would be my last post.

I suppose if you like pounding the 'Mark All Forums Read' link, this would help

There already is this function, it's just not on the Blue Dot.

There's a little white(ish) coloured "page" icon just to the left of the name of each thread. This takes you to the last post since you viewed the thread. Just click on it and it takes you to the first post since you last posted or viewed the thread, or it takes you to the first post if you haven't read the thread yet.

Looks like Satan. beat me to it though.

Goddamnit, I didn't see the little note. That's a little unintuitive, (and kind of small). The note works a little different. The note takes you to the last thing you read, and if you have never read the thread, it takes you to the beginning.

I was think more of a user interface improvement there it takes you to the last post you made. Kind of a cause-effect kind of thing.

    == EDIT ==

Aha, and this is where the yellow note fails.

I've already clicked on the thread's end, which took me to the last page, and now wish to backtrack to my last post... It's trivial I guess.

I'm not too keen on the idea, and I'm not really interested in coding it, but if you can get them to take it upstream, I won't REM it out.

Aside from the fact that I don't know why you would visit the last page of a thread and then attempt to go back multiple pages via the yellow note, you can use the search feature while in a thread to just search for your own posts, which will lead you to the most recent one.

The note works differently and doesn't really take me to the post I want it to take me to unless I've read every prior page in the thread. I like this idea.

that is tedious, hence this suggestion. i approve of this feature request!

If you haven't read a thread at all, jump to page 33 and make a post, and then fuck off for a week, when you click on the Note when you come back, it will take you to the first post made after your post. (You don't need to have read everything before your post.)

But, I can see that the note may not work for everyone if they read ahead but then for some reason want to just go back to the last post they made, regardless of them reading ahead past that.

Hey i had an idea. How about double clicking on a thread's orange dot makes it count as read? You know like you can do with whole forums in the main index. That would be cool, I'd use it a lot. Like when they turn orange when it is my post that I just made. That should be fixed as well, though.

Surely we can be trusted with moderator functionality.

It's not like that kind of thing has failed in the past.

Well, if they consider it up-stream I am sure they can include a check to see if a user is a moderator or not.

It's not like we have a manual that explains the nuances of the software. I've always just used thread tools.

And there is, in fact, a manual that explains the nuances of the software. It's just really fucking long.

Thank you, that is fuckin' delightful.
