My Windows machine crashed on me yesterday, a bigass imac that I love with Bootcamp on it. Just the Windows install went kerplooey, so I was able to back up my inbox file and other important stuff to a networked drive and set about reinstalling windows via bootcamp.
A thought occured to me: I hate reinstalling Windows every time it goes stupid on me. In a lot of cases, I find I hate Windows altogether. Of course at work I need it for our accounting software which is made at corporate, but beyond that I can survive, and likely thrive, in OS X, so I thought I'd try out Parallels.
First off, the install was so completely painless. I kept working while I watched Windows install in a little window off to the side, never rebooted once, and when I was done I removed the Bootcamp partition without any interruption to my work day.
Day two of my demo is half over and this is already the sexiest piece of software I've seen in a while. I started in windowed mode, then went to full screen, swapping my screen when I needed a windows piece of software, then I discovered 'coherence' mode. Well this is fucking awesome. I can run a windows program or a mac program on the same screen at the same time, my windows bar is just sitting there at the bottom of my OS X desktop if I need it, and since it's a virtual machine, if some fucker sends me infected artwork and I get viruses and horseshit from customers it's really no threat to the machine as a whole.
Then I found a program that will convert Windows fonts to Mac fonts! I don't need to buy, license or upgrade any more copies of Quark Xpress or Adobe Creative Suite for Windows!
I was leaning towards Apple before, now I am totally sold. Any other amazing apple software solutions I should know about?

It is. I went the extra mile to make an otherwise plain post more aesthetically pleasing.
Now you can use the develop menu to make Safari pretend to be any other mainstream browser using the user agent drop down menu. Perfect if some shitty site forces you to use IE 6 or something.
