Six Feet Under: The greatest television series ever in all of existence
Though I've already seen the entire series twice, I just now bought the first three seasons on dvd. Never has there been any form of art, in any medium, that has moved me the way this show did. It is interesting to note that not only is Alan Ball responsible for my favorite television series, he's also wrote my favorite film of all time, American Beauty.
Are there any other Six Feet Under fans on this board?
I love the bit in the first episode (IT'S THE ONLY ONE I'VE WATCHED OKAY) where Ruth hears that Nathaniel has died and starts streaming and throwing stuff on the floor
It's a shame that the Six Feet Under creator's new show looks like total ass. Teen vampire drama? Bleh.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I love vampires and I think the locale (Lousianna) is really intriguing. But I wasn't aware it was a teen drama. If that is the case, I don't know. But Ball has never given me a reason to doubt him.

Actually, I'll hold myself to this. I'll watch the first episode later tonight.

well it's more of a twentysomethings drama, if they're focusing on the characters they have been
with the exception of the hundred and fifty year old vampire
my favorite scene in the whole series is when they set up Keith to be security for Michelle Trachtenberg.
Theyre all about to have weird "white girl on gay black dude sex" and she says "i dont take it up the ass" and his reply is "that makes one of us".
it's the only TV series that I've ever found to be emotionally moving
and the finale is still the best of any show
This.
For me, Six Feet Under perhaps wasn't the most entertaining show, or the most consistent. But when it hits its highs it hits higher than pretty much anything out there.

I found it entirely entertaining and engrossing. So much more than any other show in fact. I watched an entire season in one sitting - I've never done that with a show before. I just couldn't turn it off.
Of course, I was an emotional wreck after that marathon, but it was worth it :P
hey neville, you should add Dead Like Me to your queue, if you haven't already seen it. two seasons of pure awesome. One of the characters, Mason, is totally hot in a skeevy way. just the way i like 'em

If you like pretentious bullshit, then yeah, absolutely.
I enjoyed it well enough, and it had some great emotional moments, but there were some bits I really had a problem with. Such as the season (3 i think) premiere where it's months after the (season 2?) surgery cliffhanger and Nate is inexplicably married to Hippie Girl.
I wanted to reach through the screen and strangle Claire a lot. Such an insufferable little cunt.
Ruth reminded me a lot of the crazy side of my mother, so that got a bit old as well.
edit: Brenda probably edges out Claire for "worst insufferable cunt," but not by much.
nosnibor on
When you're a spy, it's a good idea to give away your trade secrets in a voiceover on a TV show.
Claire isn't that fucking bad. She's a kid. She doesn't know any better. Furthermore, she's just a younger, girl version of Nate mixed with all of David's insecurities.

Dead Like Me was fucking great. I haven't watched the entire second season yet though. Since I heard it was canceled I have a block about it, not because I don't think it's good, but I think I'll be depressed afterwards because there's no more.
Though I read they're working on a DVD movie, so that's probably when I'll pick it back up.
Also, you might want to post about it in the Pushing Daisies thread as they were both created by the same person, Bryan Fuller, and with just those two shows, he will have my fan following forever.

I think that's what I'd do too
it's really fantastic
edit: though the second-last season i think got a bit soapy and less interesting. it redeemed itself by the end i reckon

Season 4 is the black sheep I suppose. It went darker than previous seasons, though it's hard to imagine how that's even possible.
Easily the greatest show in history.
Ruth is my favourite character.
Quoted for motherfucking TRUTH. That finale is the best hour of television ever filmed. I must have watched that thing 10 times.
Sia was perfect for it.

Spoiler for those that haven't seen the series, though it doesn't really give away anything major.
Indeed it is. I've been meaning to pick up her new stuff.

It is a phenemonal show, even if I hated Nate and Brenda as a couple. God. . . I hated her. It seems that Nate agrees with me, though.
