LAUNCH DATE SET FOR EPISODE TWO OF PENNY ARCADE GAME
The Comedic RPG-Adventure Romp Turns Spooky In Time for Halloween
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Oct. 22, 2008 - Grab your gardening tool and watch out for giant spiders, out-of-control asylum patients and wacko sanitarium administrators! Hothead Games announced today that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two will be available via Xbox LIVE® Arcade and via the Greenhouse digital distribution platform (
www.playgreenhouse.com) for Windows®, Mac® and Linux® next Wednesday, October 29.
The madcap Penny Arcade experience continues in Episode Two of the RPG-Adventure romp! Rejoin Gabe and Tycho and go crazy in a whole new episode with more puzzles, areas to explore and levels to gain, all while moving ever closer to solving the sinister mystery hidden deep in the heart of New Arcadia. Players can jump right in with a fresh character and new customization options or carry over their looks and stats from Episode One. Plus, new difficulty settings allow gamers to play it safe or go insane, battling bigger and badder enemies than ever before.
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two will also boast music from The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, a Canadian rock band dedicated to promoting the literature of H. P. Lovecraft and a recent performer at the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo gaming festival. The song, entitled "Some Things Man Was Not Meant To Know," will enhance the game's closing credits.
"This game is all about the strange and insane world of New Arcadia and the Penny Arcade-style humor to be found in it," said Hothead CEO Vlad Ceraldi. "With the cool gameplay additions we've made, including longer gameplay, completion tracking and difficulty settings; extra Lovecraftian overtones in the world and music; and the perfect time of the year, everything just came together."
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two is expected to offer players six to ten hours of gameplay, and is priced at $14.95 for the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions on Greenhouse and at 1200 Microsoft points via Xbox LIVE® Arcade. The game has been rated "M" for Mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board for all platforms.

I sorta wish in hindsight that I had bought this via Greenhouse instead of on my 360. I suppose I could switch over now but I sorta want to play them all on the same platform.
just checking, there won't be any way of porting a character from the Greenhouse version over to the Steam version, is there? cuz that'd be crazy awesome.
There's a post somewhere around here from someone from HH saying that that exact thing will be possible.

It'll be something manual, but probably not terribly difficult.
Let us all pray I don't have work that day. And the next. And possibly the next as well.
Because that would be awkward with above mentioned effects.
HH, I love you. So much.
holy cats. HH, please bear my children.
I hope EP2 used protection because other games have been fucking hilarious for a long long time and who knows what kind of STDs she has.
Probably the clap.

Yeah, a combo pack would be great, but fairly useless for me, as I'm getting Ep 1 in a week after I'm back from vacation, and it doesn't sound like Ep2'll be out by then.
I can wait. I don't want to, but I can. EP1 will help with that.

I can has cheezburger, yes?
What time and timezone will this be released?
Here's to hoping I'm not at work while it does release, else I'll have to make up a lie or something.
Also, I was wondering.. In the early days of episode 1, there were some people who experienced problems, while others did not, and thus several revisions were released, and now we're at r4 currently being distributed.
Those that managed with r2 or even r1, will they have compatibility issues with episode 2 or will all of this be fixed to be up-to-date upon installation?
Any particular reason why? I quite enjoyed EP1 on my 360, and was planning to get EP2 there as well, figuring there would be some sort of character import from EP1. Is there some feature or perk on the PC version of EP2 that the 360 won't get?
Joel
Great question but the fixes in the revs of EP1 should have no impact on bringing your character to EP2. Remember, however, you need an end of game EP1 save file. That is what EP2 will read.
Well, after playing through the game with the 360 controller and then playing at PAX on PC, I have come to find out that I would much rather use a mouse to play this game. BUT since I bought it on 360 and would like to use my character again, I will be buying it on the 360 again.
As far as I know all the features are identical across all platforms. Also, I believe buying the game via Greenhouse puts more money in HH and PA's respective pockets and not in Microsoft's, which I am also all for.
It is currently less than 26 hours left!
Who fucking wants party hats?
EDIT--
Thank you for the response Vlad, belatedly.
It's a great weight off my mind.
I ordered some from Amazon. They should be at home by the time I get back on Thursday, and we can do this shit.

Why would something need to be done manually? From having played the full version from Greenhouse and the demo from Steam, it seems like they put save files in the same place.

I do believe it was stated waaay back in some thread that it would be possible to change the appearance of your current character somehow.
Come to think of it, it would be that you either have to make a new character from episode 1, where episode 2 would have imported its new clothing/hairs/hats/shoes etc to, or your character has some kinda wardrobe and plastic surgery available. I don't know for sure, but I do recall that Joel or Vlad stated way back that it would be possible.
I am pumped, especially since the fiancee just moved in and brought with him his own 360 which means I need fight with no one over a controller. I may play uninterrupted.
Yes. You can change the look completely if you wish.
I know I will love it.
store, there are other games I will be playing.

Only thing is - Greenhouse version? No achievements! I played through EP1 with the Greenhouse before I even read about the existence of them on the 360 version. Quite uncool.
Bought it again on Steam, and...yup, achievements on that platform.
So...while I agree that PC graphics/controls > console graphics/controls...I'll be waiting on the Steam release, too. I want the achievements! :winky:
