Bottles is awesome in this game. What's the deal with Killer Instinct 3 indeed Rare.

I liked the demo but I stopped after 2 Jinjos and a jiggy because I had been wandering around doing stuff for like an hour at that point and I want to keep some stuff a surprise. I think Rare also intentionally put that Nick Arcade noise in. Everytime I rescued a Jinjo I thought Mikey was going to land on a Video Challenge.

It's worth noting, in Ameribuxx, anyway, that Nuts & Bolts is retailing for $40, and the XBLA BK is going to be 1200 MS Points ($15), which effectively makes the retail 360 game a whopping $25. It's really the only reason I've preordered the game; hell, I might even not keep N&B and just Goozex it for full price while keeping the preorder code, but I'll try out this demo when I get home tonight and see how the game is!

It's surprising how much more confident Goozex has made me with new game purchases. Knowing that I can easily turn around and resell a new game for about what I paid for it is making me a lot less worried about a lot of purchases. For example, thanks to Goozex, I've got Eternal Poison preordered despite not knowing much about it other than the fact that I like the developers involved. If I didn't have Goozex as a backup plan, I don't think I would have preordered it, but would rather have waited for some reviews. Plus, like you, I think I'm going to preorder Nuts & Bolts, because hey, between the XBLA game & Goozex, I should more than make my money back even if I end up not liking it.

I made a vehicle that traveled solely by using the springs.

    And it is awesome.

The demo is great, I spent about 4 hours on it just dicking around making vehicles, my favourite being the phallic and aptly named "Penetrator".

The gameplay is smooth and it feels like a Banjo game untill you jump into the vehicle you made.

Graphically, its on par and better than Viva Pinata. Fur shaders, Parralax Mapping, great particle effects and reflections, high definition textures ( there were in some cases the odd average one) and the water is delicious too.

This went from a maybe to Preorder overnight.

If the demo won't stop the naysayers, nothing will.

I had trouble with the soccer ball Jiggy because my wings prevented me from driving normally; it just wanted to fly. So I tried moving the wings around to act as a catcher of sorts to aid in steering the balls to the goal. Still no dice, so I was getting a little frustrated until I accidentally discovered that you could manually remove the pieces mid-challenge. So I hacked those bastards off, but was still having some difficulty. Then it hit me; move the four springs I had under the vehicle which served to launch the craft into the air to the front of the vehicle. Goodbye airbone springs, hello spring-loaded fists! I easily got 5 soccer balls in whereas I could only get a max of two previously.

I only got around to trying the defense mission so far, but it changed me from being very hopeful about this game to very cautious. It was easier to defend Clanker by just getting out of the vehicle. Because of how hard it is to steer, I couldn't ever line up shots with my gun or easily ram them.

That said, heavier building materials and higher-traction wheels would've fixed that, so I'm not totally counting the game out yet.

The defense mission is easily the worst one. I think i'll build a vehicle that's basically a moving wall, move it in front of the eyes and just go to town with Tooie.

I suggest people who aren't sold on this new Banjo game to really try out the demo. I'm surprised the stuff that Rare passes off as demos. Anyway, it'll give you a good idea whether you'll like the game or not.

As for me, I'm still not all that sold on the vehicle gimmick. I guess I'm having a hard time adjusting from the old platform games. Also, the physics are all sorts of bonkers with vehicles.

After playing the demo for a day I'm pretty glad I preordered. I spent at least a solid hour just building and crashing things while laughing my ass off. I made a vehicle that only uses the seat and a spring stuck underneath it.

The defense mission was irritating. I hope it's not as bad after getting better parts.

rofl I just found the most awesome bug in the demo. it lets you fly around in the hub city.

    here's what you do:

get out of your vehicle near the entrance to the first level.

just to the left of the door are some boxes. Put one of them in the tray of your vehicle.

jump on top of the box that is in your vehicle. you will notice that your vehicle is now highlighted meaning you can lift it with your wrench.

lift it with your wrench. since you keep getting higher it keeps trying to lift it higher. simply face the direction you want to go to move that way.

    random notes:

the text is illegible on an SDTV
there's like ten minutes of unskippable horse crap at the beginning of the demo, which sucks
since i couldn't read anything on screen i had no idea what to do.

So yeah, kind of disappointing if only because it's unplayable for me in its current form.

I could see if easily on my HD, Fyre. Perhaps I should try it out on an SD as an experiment.

Regardless, it's quite a hefty demo in comparison to others. Rare incorporated quite a lot of the gameplay into it. I must have played it for at least three hours before I had obtained the four Jiggies, building vehicles is just so much fun.

I filed the defense mission on my first try, because I got out of the vehicle and tried whacking them all.

second try I just sat at hte bottom of his face on the left side facing the "nse" and just blasted a barrage of bullets whenever a gruntbot rolled past. it only takes one bullet to stop them from reaching the eyes the I just adjustd my line of site to shoot them and finish them off.

I also tried for about an hour to get out of the invisible walls of the hub area with my flying wrench trick to no avail.

I could read the text on my SD, but I think it's pretty sharp - considering the compaints I've heard about this game and Dead Rising.

That said, it's not crystal clear by any means. I don't understand why they don't give you options to increase the text size or something.

I played it and didn't really like it all that much. Part of the reason though was that I have an SDTV and couldn't read anything. It's a good TV too that works for every other game but for some reason I can't read this. Why would they make the text so small? Even if I had an HDTV I wouldn't want the text that small. Don't they realize we are going to read the text and not look at anything else so it's ok to have it fill up more of the screen?

So part of the experience was lost because I couldn't read thus had no idea what I was doing or why I was doing it. I was able to get through the whole demo just using on screen icons but I imagine text would have made this experience better. At times the game looked really good and at others only ok. The game itself was hit or miss. The physics is really weird. The driving I guess is ok but if you are going to focus a game entirely on that gimmick shouldn't it be the best part of the game? Shouldn't the vehicle gameplay be the biggest selling point of the game and therefore be very good? Well it's not here at least not to me.

Which is why you should run it on the Test O Track before taking it back out.

One time I built a tankish vehicle with a angled front for ramming. Put engines on it, etc, it wouldn't move when I took it into testing. Thinking maybe I made the vehicle too heavy, i took off a bunch of stuff, still didn't work, kept re-configuring it...
turns out I forgot to attach a fuel tank to it
