Glad to see the pissing match between IW and Treyarch is still alive and well. Worth noting the backhanded message in the credits in 4 as well? IW seems to be playing more the asshole here.

    What is this message?

If I'm not mistaken, there's a line from that credits rap that basically says that it's the third installment. Could be wrong, been a while since I've played the game.

    The line is pretty clearly:

"This the third installment, Infinity Ward shit, don't soil your drawers cause it's deep and it's hard, bitch."

but this article maintains that its:

"Sgt Griggs reporting for duty/ Some say this belong in a movie/ But this the third installment of Infinity Ward sh--/ Don't soil your drawers, because it's deep and it's hard, bi---.""

If you listen to the song it's unmistakably "This the third installment, Infinity Ward shit."

Could be taken either way I guess...

One developer makes games with intense set pieces and the other can't make good ports.

Seriously, the section where you had to fend off wave after wave of enemies from MacMillan was epic. Michael Bay style movies are middling at best, but they make for damn good games.

If you enjoy arcadey shooters yes.

Would it be safe to say that it succeeds at what it's trying to accomplish?

    Quoting this post for awesome.

I guess treyarch has the right to use cod4 as a step ladder for success, seeing how it is the same franchise in the public's eye.
But IW has a good point too, I wouldnt want my game to be shat on while some dev uses all of my toolsets.
Both are dicks, this can be agreed upon.

I thought linear shooters had moved past the whole respawning enemies mechanic. The flaws of this kind of design are readily apparent when you just hunker down and try and take them out tactically.

Seems like IWs real problem is with Activision. Because they are the ones responsible for the whole "We need a new CoD every year", whereas IW want a new CoD when the new CoD is done. That's my understanding of the relationship anyway,

I wonder, if CoD4 hadn't been so awesome, would the new game be titled CoD5 instead of being a spinoff?

He might have one or two valid points, despite an overall kinda douchy tone, but...
Bolt Action rifles are one hit kills in every Call of Duty we (Infinity Ward) made!!

    Really?

Well, then, when can I expect my K/D to be updated? Because I've lost count of the times I've tried to use an R700 Weatherby to one-shot someone to no avail.

Guess he was referring to Hardcore, which is kind of a cop-out considering it's not the way vanilla COD4 was designed, and that Treyarch's game has a similar Hardcore mode where getting tapped on the shoulder can prove fatal.

If you're gonna sound off in a way that has the potential to piss off your publisher, at least have your facts straight. BTW, how's that fix for autofire G3 coming along? Oh, right, you're too busy working on the next COD to support your game. Capitalizing on the franchise and all that. Douche.
