Speaking of The Clash, the only band that matters, has anyone else seen that new coffee table book about them? I've seen it prominently displayed at tons of bookstores and it has a bright pink cover, so it's kind of hard to miss. Link.
It actually had quite a few new photos in it. Not something I'd ever own, but something that was fun to flip through for sure.

As awesome as that sounds, I think I died a little at the thought of some 40, 50 year old fan from back in the day going out an buying a coffee table book about The Clash.
I just dug out Give 'Em Enough Rope last night, that seriously has to be the best side A of the 70s.

-If you're in the rock genre, and play songs that are political, then those songs are punk (some Specials songs, though they aren't stylistically punk, are politically punk, like for example, "It Doesn't Make it Alright")
-If a single follows the stylistic rules started by The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, or The Stooges (a song could be like any one of these punks)
Following this, I have a tendency to redefine songs in my ipod to match a better definition than Itunes gives them.
Nothing at all. Just my distaste for people that think screaming is a viable style of singing.
Joe Strummer never really did the screaming thing. Though these guys did and are awesome and if you don't think they're awesome that's too bad but when making billions of people a year you can expect some to be defective. New Noise, best track or besterest track ever?
The politeness isn't the problem so much as the wrongness. A conventional singing style would have required the entire rest of the song to be rewritten weaker.
Anyways, if anyone cares the Get Up Kids are getting back together and are gearing up for a tour this Spring/Summer. I can't think of a pop-punk band I like more so this makes me very happy.

Well, you can't really go wrong with some flogging molly either, I saw them last year on the Green 17 tour, they played with Dusty Rhodes river band, and reverend Peyton.

Hey I got the Bosstones love in first. They're a very good band on CD, but they are out of this world live and they take it to a next level at the Throwdown. Dec 28 is my birthday and I'm doing the Throwdown for it the 2nd year in a row at the Middle East.
Flogging Molly came out of nowhere for me. I saw them at the Warped Tour, the Hometown Throwdown in 200 (I think?) with Avail and the Dropkick Murphys opening for the Bosstones. Then I turn around and they're on the radio. Very strange, but I still like em.
Big D is from my area (South Shore) and were coming up when I was young enough not to be the weird old guy at an all-ages show. They used to play the Hanover VFW all the time with bands like $5 Bucks, Mission 120, The Sellouts, the Goonies and of course their fellow Fork in Hand distributors: KITH (motherfuckers!) Kicked in the Head - Churn it Up
Now that is a good song to hear live. I once saw them with the Bosstones and of all people Tiffany (as in "I think we're alone now) at Brandeis.
LAX by Big D used to be an unreleased song they played from pretty early on. It was actually only the first 1:15 of the above completed song (where there's a pretty obvious change in the style). I prefer a lot of their old stuff (Quiet Room, Fatman, Can't Be Caught, Draw the Line, etc) but that's probably because I'm old as fuck now and I can't be mad at their stylistic changes since it includes covering Jonathon Richman.
Then 88 Fingers Louie broke up, and I followed their bassist/guitarist to a little band called Rise Against, back when they had just released The Unraveling. I'll freely admit that they've only gotten better. I thoroughly enjoy their newest album, Appeal to Reason.

Thank you for my new wallpaper.
The inevitable, ridiculously stupid "But their first album..." argument.
Skrewdriver always sucked, white power album or not. People who like them are just trolling IRL, basically.

I like your avatar a whole lot.
Operation Ivy and Streetlight Manifesto are both incredible bands and have not been mentioned yet.
To be fair, punk is but one of several components that make up the Refused's sound.
It has a ska prefix but still....
What I'll be doing for the 2nd year in a row on 12/28
Throwdown!
Some more Boston representatives
Ducky Boys I'll rise up (looking old)
DKM before they were on the radio
QEDMF xbl: PantsB G+
I was going to mention Streetlight.
Their latest album is still the greatest album ever.
Also, Rx Bandits are incredible, even though they're no longer ska.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Hotlinked like a mofo.
This should be reported for awesome right? Given the entire circumstance.
oh and to contribute old hardcore
Bad Brains - Banned in D.C. (1982)
Also, I humbly submit
Good Riddance - Yesterday's Headlines
Against All Authority - All Fall Down
88 Fingers Louie - I've Won
Then 88 Fingers Louie broke up, and I followed their bassist/guitarist to a little band called Rise Against, back when they had just released The Unraveling. I'll freely admit that they've only gotten better. I thoroughly enjoy their newest album, Appeal to Reason.
Best 88 Fingers Louie song is still 100 Proof.
