I swear to Satan himself (and he totally owes me already) if anyone actually though Sonic Reducer was a Pearl Jam song I will beat them with my dick.

    Oh my fucking god. AAA.

    <3

Best 88 Fingers Louie song is still 100 Proof.

You'll get absolutely zero argument from me on that one. The bass bridge/riff/solo is amazing.

It's pretty remarkable how much a good bassist sets punk bands apart from the rest.

Matt Freeman is pretty much the sole reason I listen to Rancid.

Heck, bassists are the main reason why I listen to punk in general.

I've recently discovered stuff like The Stranglers and Television, any recommendations for stuff in a similar vein?

I listened to No More Heroes almost constantly when I first got it.

Ahh sounds like you're feeling the stuff right before punk

    the Damned
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91rAHIb8BwY
    TV on the Radio
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uo2WLQ2LVA
    Iggy pop

(tv on the radio is newer but hey fuck it)

You might hate me for saying this but MOST PEOPLE who like that kind of stuff will also be nicely disposed toward the earlier goth/industrial pop such as

    love and rockets

    and the sisters of mercy

it's not really overly related, but in other news I found a cramps video with clear audio

Okay, I didn't feel like letting this thread die. Punx gotta go somewhere right?
So yeah, the Gaslight Anthem is pretty good. Got mentioned in a best of list in the NYT. It wasn't a very good list and the NYT isn't very punk rock, but if there is one band that rightly deserves this attention it's them. God I hope they go far. Fucked Up got in a list too (as ********). Does anyone here like The Chemistry of Modern Life?

Anyways, this year was a good one for newer bands. The Riot Before and Scream Hello in particular. I caught both of 'em with Gaslight at the Asbury Lanes, forgot about them for a few months and fell in love with their new albums after hearing the streams.Bridge and Tunnel are good too. Got a Braid meets Hot Water Music sound that works really well in their best moments but kinda falters in others. Man, I really have 'orgcore taste in bands...

Oh, and Issue Oriented is the best punk/hardcore podcast ever.

If anyones thinking about Christmas gifts, and has a dad or mom who likes Blues but also kinda listens to Punk Rock, Fat Possum Records released a series of albums called "not the same old blues crap". It has some actual pure blues songs, but it has a lot of guys who were inspired by the blues, including a lot of early punk rock, like Iggy Pop, and no3 has this gem-
