I did my best to get everything I could out of that hell hole before blowing it, any Sugar Bombs lying around, ammo etc. But for my final act before leaving, I massacred the town starting with the good sherrif, with a nifty Flamer I found on a raider.

Thanks, I hadn't considered raiding the Armory :^:

It was the very first place I ever found a Combat Shotgun and Chinese Assault Rifle. Sadly my lock picking skill wasn't high enough to break into the safe inside, but I doubt there was anything too important in there.

And if you're computer skills are sufficiently high, crack the computer behind the robot guard before he gets a shot off and you'll get an option to simply disable him. Works great if your starting character is a limp-wristed sissy like mine.

    Just swept through Fort Constantine.

    So. Fucking. Awesome.

The loot was nice, but dayum, that was one of the best expeditions to date.
I liked the contrast between Megaton's single bomb, revered as a godlike tool of destruction, and the countless stacks of bombs left forgotten in the bottom of a deserted facility. It really drove home the bizarre and unsettling nature of the setting, and more deeply, the nature of nuclear warfare itself. I honestly would not have minded one bit if FC was the end of the game.

edit: Also, a question about Trouble on the Homefront:
I solved it peacefully, with the Overseer handing over control to Amata (Who told me to get out. After inviting me in. What?). Are the any differences to the outcome if you sabotage the Vault, other than Stanley meeting an unfortunate end?

So, this game never ceases to amaze me. I stumbled upon an armory, shot some raiders, looked around, found some shit here and there, but over all, I was like, that's it? For an ARMORY? THen I found hte door to the armory proper, and 5mins of pure radiation exposure exploring later I come across the MOTHER load of fucking ammo and guns! I stocked the hell up! no laser weapons, but money to BUY Laser Weapons. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I stumbled upon the Scrapyard, gotta say, the office was one of the creepier settings I've seen in the game. Something so normal in a game so fucked up really made me stand up and take notice, ya know?

I think you can get in if you take the Contract Killer perk.

Also: I finally got Power Armor training last night (level 16). The upside is that once I got the training I was able to jump right into a suit of 100% condition Enclave Armor, thanks to all those chumps in the sewers and my awesome Repair skill.

So now I’m the baddest-looking man in the Wasteland. Next stop: Fort Constantine. Quick question: do I need a specific Science skill to get access to the armor that’s there? You know the one I mean.

If all you're looking for is a list of quests and where to get them, the Fallout 3 wiki page has a list that just says the name of the quest, where it starts, who starts it, and what the reward is. You can click for more info/spoilers on them, or you can just use the list as reference for making sure you get all the quests.

Well, besides everyone leaving? Butch shows up in the Muddy Rudder at Rivet City, you can hire him as a follower. Amata leaves and tells you off. You have a chance to see her later at an enclave camp. I won't spoil what happens there. And the overseer doesn't much care for you sabotaging the chip and attacks you right after you do it, so he's done before you ever exit the vault after having done that. I felt this was the best ending I could find anyway. I detested the people in that vault.

Oh man, what a great battle I had last night. I entered the Tepid Sewers from near the Anchorage Memorial. Had a grand time killing my way through there and exited overloaded with tons of stuff. As I exited in West Georgetown, all hell broke loose.

    Spoilered:
First a bunch of Talon dudes confront me, say I can't be doing good shit in the Wasteland, now they're going to kill me, yada yada yada. It was going to be a tough fight since there were four of them and they were right on top of me, but I figured I could pull it off. So out comes the Chinese Assault Rifle, I'm stimpaking like an MFer, going through crazy ammo, fight's going okay, though, when all of a sudden Super Mutant Brutes come rolling in from two sides. Fuck! So now I KNOW I'm dead. But what do you know, they start fighting with the Talon guys! Awesome! I lay back now, only fighting folks who are aggressive to me, hoping the two factions will eat one another up. The mutants take out the talons, then come at me. I start lobbing frag grenades like a madman. Blow through them, start cycling through weapons. Took a while, but finally offed them all ... and just about gutted my inventory in the process.

    Fun!

Dunno if the latter half of that was scripted or not (and I don't want to know), but it was rad.

So I've been playing the game for awhile, having a great time. While I was playing last night, I suddenly wondered why so much of Washington D.C. is still standing. It had to have been hit by at least one nuke, and it seems kind of weird that so many buildings would still be standing, especially Washington Monument. Maybe I just don't understand what a nuke actually does to a city.

Because the game wouldn't be nearly as fun if it took place on a completely flattened sheet of glass.

DBReed: It's likely that the capitol had good counter-measures against attack, and it's probably what saved a lot of the buildings in the down-town area. The wear and tear that's around now looks more like the area suffering from two hundred years of raiders, looters and super mutants.

lol, I had a similar experience with my melee/big guns character yesterday.

I was going to let them fight it out, but dog meat wouldn't have any of that pansy crap and rushed in on the super-mutants. As luck would have it, I was out of flamer ammo as well. So instead I put on the spiked knuckles, popped some buffout and psycho and went in for my first melee with anything other than radroaches. It was absolutely glorious, I just got the bloody mess perk and heads were asploding everywhere. Funny stuff to beat down a super-mutant's face so hard it explodes considering I was looking up at least at a 45 degree angle when punching them. Punching a centaur is also pretty cool, I would have expected them to destroy in melee with all those tentacles.

I had a nice story at the Wheaton Armory.

I was heading in from the West and curved down around the south to the gate. I crept around sniping some of the people on the destroyed 4 story walkways to the East and the last at the front. but. But one of the people near the destroyed container truck in the middle area saw me and raised the alarm.

I pull out my trusty chinese Assault Rifle, but I'm watching 4 guys run at me from all directions and thinking I'm going to be very low on HP when I finish. So, I switch to eugene. I shit you not, the raider lady in front watched me pull eugene out, then promptly turned around and ran away screaming. I then mowed down the guy in front of me and blew up the truck to get the other two. I never did find that last lady that bolted at the mere sight of me holding eugene. It was AWESOME!

i remember having the same fight when i came out of tepid sewers, it was my first run in with talon (who seems to like waiting for me to come out of dungeons with my inventory full).

the only difference is that i killed all the talon mercs with my assault rifle/hunting rifle/44 mag... and then saw the super mutants firing at me from inside a building.

Speaking of cars on this new character I found an old outdoor cinema thing, lots of cars sitting around... and a good few raiders all around them. I open fire on one car near a raider... BOOM, no more raider, but this causes a chain reaction and soon there are multiple mini-nuke like explosions going off. When I wandered in to search for the bodies... well, they didn't exist anymore.

I blew up 1 in three VATS hunting rifle shots last night :-(

I was crouched behind it hunting (no, no I wasn't thinking clearly) and queued shots to a sentry bot in the distance. Instead of shooting over the damn car that my rifle is sitting over, VATS decides to shoot the car instead. Blew it up in my face after 3 bullets :-(

When I started to read it, I first asked "how can he target a car in VATS?"

I have wasted so many shots in VATS because my bullets hit the invisible edge of a barrier I'm using for cover. At this point I rarely bother to grab any cover because it's just as likely to waste my shots and my VATS points.

Every time he pops out and insta-kills an enemy for me that would have taken another 20 shots to kill or that I am trying to snipe from really far away, I am very thankful. Plus the music that plays when he pops out is awesome.

Often vats will stop for you. Im not sure how reliable it is, but just chalk it up to bad luck.

Also cars explode heaps fast, it takes like 3 bullets to set them on fire, any more than that and insta-explosion.

The only time I've had VATS stop shooting is when the target is dead, but I have more shots queued up.

Say I queue up 2 sniper shots, but kill him in 1, then vats won't fire off the 2nd. That's the only time I've ever seen it not fire off all shots.
