Thousands of New Species Discovered on Tiny Island
An expedition to a tiny island in the South Pacific's Republic of Vanatu has yielded hundreds of new species, including possibly 1000 new species of crab.

    That creature's claw practically looks like it was ripped from a larger creature, after an epic struggle.

    EDIT: They are possibly minions of the demon squid.

    EDIT TWO, ELECTRIC RECTIFICATION: The feather star crab is crazy.

    ah shit, that reminds me, I was bored as hell this morning and tuned into some public access show with some religious dude explaining the VAST SCIENTIFIC DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN and apologizing really profusely and making these crazy hand gestures the entire time.

    Those crabs look perfectly symmetrical when they all fuse together to form MEGACRAB, which incidentally is the name I use to refer to my ex-girlfriend.

    It's a snapping shrimp. They use that large claw to incapacitate fish using cavitation. Basically, they close the pincers so fast that they knock fish/small invertebrates out cold. If you snorkel over a reef, the shrimp sound like rice krispies in milk.

    The squat lobsters are way cool.

    I'm having this chicken hummus veggie pita thing from Perfect Pita, but they have this gyro with tzatziki that I sampled yesterday and it is marvelous. It's like sucking off God.

    I want to go back and argue with the stupid DC contractors about jai-row vs year-oh.

    This is true.

    There are enormous, continent-sized swaths of the ocean that we have no idea what is there or what is going on. For all we know, there is a hyper-intelligent species of shark sitting down there with conference tables and nuclear weapons, plotting their attack on the vicious land beasts that keep trying to kill them despite being delicious.
