So it's been reported today that Ron Asheton, guitarist for The Stooges, died. Now I'm not really sure how many people here like the Stooges but if you like punk or anything even remotely resembling punk, you really have Ron Asheton and the Stooges to thank, among some other people.

Use this thread to talk about how awesome The Stooge are or what your favorite album is. My favorite album would have to be Fun House:

Fun House is indescribable in its awesomeness so just check it out for yourself.

Now I'm ready to close my eyes

And now I'm ready to close my mind

And now I'm ready to feel your hand

And lose my heart on the burning sands

Iggy Pop is currently selling Car Insurance before episodes of Stargate.

I saw Iggy Pop live at a festival in Glasgow in 2001.

It was probably the best part of the show.

I think Raw Power is my least favorite Stooges album. Not sure why. Have you heard the original mix for Raw Power? Fucking awful. They really shouldn't have been doing the mixing while they were all coked up and shooting heroin.

if i remember correctly, midway through recording american idiot, the tracks were stolen and instead of doing it over, they were just like "fuck it, let's start from scratch".

to an extent, it's still a rock opera. it tells the story of st. jimmy in the song "jesus of suburbia", which was originally supposed to be 3 individual songs. i don't know, i dont listen to them too much anymore.

but rock operas are awesome and american idiot is not awesome

    it's a pretty clear qualifier
