Holy crap, I have a whole new respect for the guys who run these games.

Oh, yeah. Running one of these things is not all fries and cheezburgers, now that I know what it's like too.

Of course, the feeling of running one is pretty addictive, too.

It's a lot of hard labor, but god does it feels good.

Or alternatively, frustrating, as you see the village dragged along like that retarded kid from PE.

Well, the village obviously deserves whatever they get in that scenario. I mostly enjoy watching the machinations, and the mafia generally has more reason to lie and deceive than the village.

Although in Vampire, I found myself rooting for Mr D. And for Hippie.

Who, by the way, was awesome.

But yes, running is so different from playing. And just as addictive.

    I was completely unbiased!

...well okay no that's a lie.

Mostly because I looked forward to everyone getting pissed off at the opposition's various special powers. Not to mention that, strictly speaking, Phallakinetic was a dual-mafia game with two villager sub-factions.

Speaking of which... hoping to get the full game launched before the end of the month. Sick of taking up a slot like a slob.

I like to root for whoever figures out the most. I love watching puzzles get accurately pieced together.

On the other hand, watching people get the totally wrong idea can be just as hilarious.

Seeing as i'm pretty new to this phalla thang, has a good 40K based game been run?

I'v been milling around ideas for roles, etc, but if its been done i'll just forget about it.

Question: I'm currently tentatively working on a Phalla, and kind of wondering on a good balance of mafia is to everyone else? Like, would 20% be an ideal cutoff?

I think the usual ratio is around one mafia for every five other players.

    20% is high.

I believe the usual ratio to shoot for is ~15%. Then +1 mafia for every kill the village has beyond 1vig+vote. And then -mafia depending on if they have more kills than usual.

    Heh, yeah.

I realized, as I was balancing it with a friend, that our ratio was like 40% mafia.

Umm question. I might possibly have a Warhammer 40k game ready and in working Miniphalla form tonight. Would anyone mind if I started it seeing as Law and Order mini is about to end, Bioshock is almost over and it is looking like Berserk is going to burn out fast with 7 kills the first night?

You should wait until L&O officially ends. Also I think Bremen might have called the next slot. But who knows.

It's up to whoever is running the current main, I think, but they seem to be hands off about it as long as you don't step on any toes.

15 people still alive in Bioshock Phalla, if the L&O mini ends tonight I think I'll throw a recruitment post up. If it keeps going I'll probably wait to see what whoever runs the next main thinks.

The current practice is to let the host of the current Main determine mini availability.

I made it first come first serve a while back. Go for your life.

Typically main hosts will ask that people don't start games during their signups or during the first few days of their game.

After that it's all fair game.

Looks like the L&O mini is still going, and with the Bioshock main almost over I'll probably hold of on the Deus Ex mini until whoever runs the next main is okay with it.

I'm indecisive. There are 10 people left in the Bioshock Phalla, so it will probably only last another day or two. Is there a potential next main runner I should ask before I start recruitment for a mini?
