"Why Can't Wii be Friends? Why Can't Wii be Friends?"
Post your Wii codes here, as to not get lost in the excitement over in the Wii thread proper. I'll update the OP when we (wii?) have a good number.
Please do me a favor. Please put your forum name and then friends code when you want it added to the list.

VERY HELPFUL.
This list is temporary, of course. I'm doing it to pass the time until I get the Wii, it is keeping me from spoilering Zelda, so I don't mind it at all.
I bet the other features (messages, stuff like that) will be up before too long, plus its always good to be prepared. I'll gather a rough list and someone will webpage it up. Plus it works as an intimidation factor; you ain't with us, you're agin us.
It's bare-bones but I'll fix it up today after I get mine. Just go to the Sidebar link and edit your code onto the end of the list. You can just put that in the first post Eliot instead of the hell that is maintaining a friends code list OP.

Yeah, I was waiting for something like this to come along, but truth be told I was doing this to pass the time until I am going to venture forth to the area that has much Wii. Literally in one Mall there are supposedly over 300 Wii's, all of them at places without preorders. Five minutes outside there is a Toys R Us, and another five is a non 24 hour shithole Walmart that no one goes to. So I am going to get good and warm, grab some tea, charge up my DS, and get me a Wii at 6/6:30, or at least in a line for one. Wish me luckers.

Holy shit, could they have possibly added more numbers?
Could you possibly go without complaining about something for 5 minutes?
They had to add this many numbers because a Wii Code is given to every single person who ever takes their Wii online, unlike the DS which is on a game-by-game basis.

Unless they plan on selling literally a billion of them, something along the lines of a telephone number should've sufficed. Plus, it's easier to remember a seven digit set of numbers than a sixteen digit set.
It's not so much a complaint, but shock and bewilderment.
looks like a hundred. 20 pages of five, if I did my math right.
So what's the plan when the list fills up 12 hours from now?
Realistically you don't really want or need to have everyone on the forums in your friends list. If list capacity becomes a problem, just add people on an individual basis.

Most likely the reason they do it this way is so the system can recognize invalid friends codes, i.e. if you make a typo on one digit the code won't be valid. That's how the DS works at least.

You know the reason they create area codes? Because they ran out of fucking numbers to use. Giving yourself insureance for the future is a good idea. What if they use this for the next console, or the next ds?

I meant seven to ten in my original post, but I only typed seven. I would've just assumed they'd want to have it resemble something as close to a phone number as possible since that's what everyone from a grandma gamer to a kid would be most familiar with. Sixteen digits feels like programming in map coordinates or something.
Still, I can't understand why they're using friend codes over names in the first place, so I'll make my graceful departure from this thread now.

Friends codes are guaranteed unique, with no one squabbling over "missing" their name.

PM me.
I think the system is probably going crazy right now from Wii owners adding friends/e-mail addresses/whathaveyou.
I actually had to camp for 12 hours today to get mine. I thought I'd be able to walk in at midnight...I was sorely mistaken.

Is WiiConnect 24 "working" for any of you? Mine just disconnects whenever I'm not on Wii Shop. I think this might be why I can't send any messages.
Ive also got jonxp's mii here
