So a trailer came out for a movie called 500 Days of Summer was released recently, starring my favorite elf, zooey deschanel, and my favorite gumshoe, joseph gordon-levitt, and it looks to be a sweet, little romantic comedy that will just leave you feelin good, man.

500_smiles.jpg

bonus clip from the movie

I can't wait to see this movie, because it looks saccharine sweet, but not in a laugh track kind of way ya know.

which got me thinking of other movies that just leaves me with a big old smile on my face whenever i see it.

One of my favorite movies that gives me the happies is Once, which was a movie about a guitar playing street performer dude who meets a girl and they make awesome music together, though its not strictly a romantic movie.

once-wins.jpg

this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie:

There's tons of other movies that i watch whenever i want a quick pick me up, like love actually and she's the man and better off dead, so yeah, dudes lets all get a sugar overdose from sweet movies

Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks like a cross between Heath Ledger, Keanu Reeves, and Neil Patrick Harris.

I've never actually seen Dirty Dancing, but it was on a questionnaire for my communications class, and we were supposed to fill it out on a random person without asking them any questions, and the question was..."Movie most likely to rent?" out of a) Wedding Crashers b) 300, c) Dirty Dancing d) some other shit

Needless to say, my buddy was pissed off at me that I put down Dirty Dancing for him.

I don't think that is a romantic comedy at allll.

And man lots of people didn't like it but I really loved Across the Universe and the rooftop concert scene is great!

i found once to be completely anti-climactic and hard to sit through.
    like it was pretty cute
but at the end i was sorta "so...so that's it?"

i like garden state for making me feel nice movies

and a boy still loves her despite that

the ending to once was perfect,
and if they ended up kissing or living happily ever after, it would have totally cheapened the whole movie. i read somewhere that the main lead was ready to quit the whole movie if the studios insisted on a more conventional happy ending with a kiss and all. i took it more as showing how a person can completely change your life in just a few short days, like two ships passing in the night, or something equally cliche.

it reminds me of the ending to eastern promises, where even though they don't end up together, they had such a profound impact on each others lives that they'll never forget each other. kinda. i guess there's less sexy man balls in once

I have it on my ipod and I sing along in the car in beltway traffic. Most of the songs are, um, enthusiastic, so people look at me strange.

I've also learned a few on guitar.

I enjoyed the music in Once but not the actual movie itself, which is odd because I really liked Lost in Translation which was similar in concept.

I guess if I had to watch two people leading their ordinary lives for two hours I'd rather it be Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanson.

Lost in Translation and Love Actually are the only movies that make me feel like a big girl.
