I've finished story mode and I don't have anything unlocked...assuming last stand was the final mission.

They're choices added below each mission.

So you scroll from Mission 1 (no extra modes) Story to Mission 2 (and beyond) Story, and under that should be things like Story Mode Advanced, 10 tower limit, 10,000 resources, Single Core challenge, etc.

The advanced missions are actually just any mission past, 6(I believe). It's essentially so that you can't get some of the achievements really easily by doing them on any of the really easy levels.

You do unlock the challenge modes for each level when you beat it. Those are the ones below each mission.

Are the X3 games any fun. I can't tell from the videos I watched of it, but is it essentially a Eve Online, just offline? If that were the case I would be dandy with it

I've never found it to be difficult to play. I imagine the learning curve primarily deals with the economy and becoming a successful trader, but that's an entire section of the game I stayed away from. X3: Reunion doesn't give you much options outside of trading to earn a lot of money, though Terran Conflict has all sorts of missions available that can reward you quite handsomely. I'm really thankful for that.

If you love open-ended space games, it's a great one to pick up, probably one of the best. Make sure to get X3: Terran Conflict, though, and not the original. So far I've found it to be better in almost every way. There are a bunch of great mods to grab, too. Conflicts is probably my favorite, which allows all the factions in the game, even the player, to declare war with each other and battle for control of all the sectors. Combat Mod 3 is also worth getting, and the thread for it will have links to some great optional mods, as well (Comms Ambient, Experimental Ship Mod, Military HUD).

    The Orange Box for 8,97€ / 10.83$

    and

    Left 4 Dead for 11,95€ / 14.44$

It's stand alone. And you don't have to worry about playing the others to get up to speed. The X games aren't about the main quests, nor are those quests memorable. The games are about freedom.

There's another game you might want to look up if you like these type of games. It's not on Steam, so I won't ramble on about it, but look up Evochron Legends. It's an indie game that comes out on the fifth, and it even has multiplayer.

I hope you like it. Legends is improving on it from interactivity with planets, city size (they're small in Renegades), graphics, missions, ship designs, and a whole bunch more. I wouldn't mind having someone to play it with online. Everything carries over between MP and SP, too. They're not separate.

I really wish more space games would have seamless flight to and from the atmosphere of planets. That's a feature I've been dying to have in these type of games. The only games I've seen attempt these kind of features are all indie games (Infinity is looking quite nice; it's too bad it's an MMO). Evochron games also don't require the use of the jump gates, either. You can freely fly system to system. I hope X4, if they're making it, will borrow some of these features.

    Audiosurf International Update Available Now
    FEBRUARY 4, 2009, 11:41 AM - ALDEN KROLL - PRESS RELEASE

February 4, 2009 -- The sensational PC music gaming title, Audiosurf, keeps on rockin' the free world with a massive update now available, free of charge, via Steam.

The International Update introduces Unicode support, enhanced community features, support for play on netbooks, a new Visualizer mode, and more.

Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song selected. Points are earned for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway. The game also allows gamers to compete with others on the Internet for the highest score on any song they own.

The title was created by solo developer Dylan Fitterer, who came up with the design for Audiosurf after six months of running BestGameEver.com, where Fitterer released a new game every Friday. Fitterer's favorite design produced during this period was Tune Racer, which was iterated and evolved into Audiosurf.

Owners of Audiosurf will automatically receive the International Update by connecting to Steam, where Audiosurf is offered for just $9.99.

For more information, please visit www.steamgames.com
