So I heard news today that Warner Bros is in the very, very initial stages of doing a remake of The Neverending Story. They don't have a director yet, or a cast, but their letting word out that they're looking to do so.
I am not sure how to feel about this. The movies, albeit very campy, have a special place in my heart from my childhood. I loved all three of them, yes, all three. I am on the fence though. There have been so many classic 80's movies/series that have been redone recently, only to turn out to be highly polished turds, sometimes almost even ruining that warm fuzzy feeling I had for the original.
I really do not want this to be another one of those.
BUT, on the other hand, with quality CG and actors, they could make this revision so much nicer than the original ones, passing on another one of my childhood joys to a new generation.
What sayeth all of you? Do you think this could turn out well? Did you like The Neverending Story? If you had one, would you like a luck dragon, and then fly it to vegas to win big?

EDIT: KUSU WHAT IS UP DUDE, JUST FLEW IN YESTERDAY, BOY ARE MY ARMS TIRED.
The word 'reboot' keeps being used. so I'm not sure if their intention is to try to remake the first film, or try to go back and follow the book more precisely. I would probably like the latter of the two.
didn't he kill himself?

Seeing as how he died back in 2003, I'm guessing not.

I don't see how that crossover could work unless they digitalise the book and then the User uploads it to Mainframe.
And I'm not even sure if Mainframe Studios is around in any capacity to do something as big as that.
It just seems really far-fetched.

FREAKY OUTY
Stop what you are doing
watch it now.
NOW.
It's listed on Wikipedia as Falkor with a K, which is probably what it was in the book. Both IMDB and Wikipedia both cite Falkor with a K as the spelling.
Listening now. It's as good as I remembered.
What? No it isn't.

Unlikely. He topped himself a year or two back.
