That's right dudes, Mastodon's new album Crack The Skye comes out NEXT WEEK.

But the good people in Mastodon have been kind enough to put the WHOLE FUCKING THING ON THEIR MYSPACE FOR FREE

It's really spacey and pretty fucking different from all their previous work

personally I like it despite its departures from their previous stuff, and I feel like it'll grow on me even more

    Oblivion and Divinations are both fantastic

    I'm still halfway on most of the rest of the album

    I figure I mainly like Mastodon when the singers are going for a more melodic sound, which I understand they do more and more of as albums come out, so maybe I'll like this one

But they end up running into the Devil along the way and the Devil tries to steal their souls and bring them down…there are some obstacles along the way

    on a barely related note the new Wolves in the Throne Room is alright

    it's pretty much Just Another WiTTR Album

    which i am okay with

    whenever mastodon talks about their concepts it's always hilarious because they mention these random things in passing that are such tiny aspects of the story and setting
    and they say it in such a matter of fact manner and they're such crazy things
    like oh yeah golden umbilical cord attached to his solar plexus, duh
    or 'it's a one-eyed sasquatch that can see into the future'
    oh of course
    how could i have not guessed that
